技術分野
[0001] 本発明は、光ピックアップ装置及びこの光ピックアップ装置を用いた光ディスク装置 、並びにその制御方法に関し、特に、 2つの対物レンズを搭載した光ピックアップ装 置において、両方の対物レンズに対して最適にコマ収差を補正することができる光ピ ックアップ装置及びこの光ピックアップ装置を用いた光ディスク装置、並びにその制 御方法に関する。
本出願は、日本国において 2004年 12月 16日に出願された日本特許出願番号 20 04— 363851を基礎として優先権を主張するものであり、この出願は参照することに より、本出願に援用される。
背景技術
[0002] 従来、 CD (Compact Disc)、 DVD (Digital Versatile Disc)、 BD (Blu— ray Disc)な どの様々な光ディスクを記録媒体に用いるディスクドライブ装置が提案され、用いられ ている。
ところで、 CDを再生するために用いられる光ビームと、 DVDに情報の記録を行い あるいは記録された情報の再生のために用いられる光ビームと、 BDに情報の記録を 行!、あるいは記録された情報の再生のために用いられる光ビームとは、それぞれ波 長を異にする。例えば、 CDの再生に用いられる光ビームの波長はほぼ 780nmとし、 DVDの記録又は再生に用いられる光ビームの波長は 650〜660nmであり、 BDの 記録又は再生に用いられる光ビームの波長はほぼ 405nmである。
さらに、 CD、 DVD, BDに光ビームを集光して情報の記録又は再生を行うために 用いられる光ピックアップ装置に設けられる対物レンズは、それぞれ開口数 (NA)を 異にする。
さらにまた、 CD、 DVD, BDの各光ディスクは、情報記録層が設けられるディスク基 板の厚さをそれぞれ異にしている。 上述のように、波長を異にする光ビームを用い、さらに、開口数 (NA)を異にする対 物レンズを用いて情報の記録又は再生が行われる記録フォーマットを異にする光デ イスク、例えば、 CDと DVDを選択的に用いることを可能としたディスクドライブ装置が 提供されている。
さらに、記録フォーマットを異にする CD、 DVD、 BDの 3種類の光ディスクを選択的 に用いることを可能とするディスクドライブ装置が提案されて 、る。
この種のディスクドライブ装置にあっては、 CD、 DVD、 BDの記録又は再生に用い られるそれぞれ波長を異にする光ビームを 1つの対物レンズを用いて集光して装着さ れた光ディスクに照射するようにした光ピックアップ装置を用いることが考えられる。こ のように、 1つの対物レンズを用いて波長を異にする光ビームを選択的に光ディスク に集光して照射するようにした光ピックアップ装置は、対物レンズが大型化し、装置 自体の大型化を避けることができないばかりか、製造コストも高くなるという問題点が ある。
このような問題点の解消を図るため、記録フォーマットを異にする CD、 DVD, BD の 3種類の光ディスクを選択的に用いるディスクドライブ装置に用いられる光ピックァ ップ装置として、 2つの対物レンズを用いたものが提案され、実際に提供されている。 この種の光ピックアップ装置は、 CD及び DVD用の光ビームを集光するための対物 レンズと、 BD用の光ビームを集光するための対物レンズとを備えている。
なお、 2つの対物レンズを設け、これら対物レンズにより、波長を異にする 2つの光 ビームをそれぞれ集光して光ディスクに照射するようにした光ピックアップ装置として ゝ特開平 11— 23960号公報、特開平 11— 259891号公報、特開平 11— 64724号 公報に記載されたものがある。
ところで、記録フォーマットを異にする CD、 DVD、 BDの 3種類の光ディスクに対し 記録又再生を行うようにした光ピックアップ装置であって、 2つの対物レンズを用いて 波長を異にする 3種類の光ビームを集光するようにしたものは、波長を異にする 2種 類の光ビームを 2つの対物レンズを用いて集光するようにしたものに比し、球面収差 やコマ収差等の収差の補正にさらに厳しい精度が要求される。
即ち、 CD及び DVDの 2種類の光ディスクに対応するように、 2つの対物レンズを設 け、これら対物レンズにより、波長を異にする 2つの光ビームをそれぞれ集光するよう にした光ピックアップ装置にあっては、球面収差やコマ収差などの収差の補正は、 D VDの記録又は再生に要求される精度で光学系の調整が行われることで、 CDに要 求される各収差の補正精度の条件を満たすことができる。
し力し、記録フォーマットを異にする CD、 DVD、 BDの 3種類の光ディスクに対応す るように、 2つの対物レンズを用いて波長を異にする 3種類の光ビームを集光するよう にした光ピックアップ装置にあっては、 CD、 DVDに用いられる対物レンズを用いたと きに発生する球面収差やコマ収差などの収差を、 DVDにおいて要求される精度の 範囲に補正することが要求され、さらに、 BDに用いられる対物レンズを用いたときに 発生する球面収差やコマ収差などの収差を、 BDにおいて要求される精度の範囲に 補正するとが要求される。
この種の 3種類の光ディスクに対応するようにされた光ピックアップ装置にあっては 、 2つの対物レンズのいずれにも、高精度の収差補正が行われることが要求されるこ とになる。
ここで、対物レンズを 1つ備えた光ピックアップ装置において、この光ピックアップ装 置から出射されて光ディスクに照射される光ビームにより発生する球面収差やコマ収 差などの収差を補正する例を説明する。
この種の光ピックアップ装置は、上述のような光ビームを光ディスクの信号記録面に 集光したときに発生する球面収差やコマ収差などの収差の発生を抑えるため、コマ 収差補正素子や、対物レンズを駆動変位させる対物レンズ駆動装置としての 3軸ァク チユエータが設けられている。この 3軸ァクチユエータは、光ビームを光ディスクの信 号記録面に集光させる対物レンズを駆動変位させるものであって、この対物レンズの 光軸と平行な方向のフォーカス方向、光ビームが照射される光ディスクに設けられた 記録トラックを横断する方向であつてフォーカス方向と直交する方向のラジアル方向 であるトラッキング方向、及び記録トラックの接線方向を中心とする回転方向のラジア ルチルト方向の 3軸方向に対物レンズを駆動変位させる。
上述したような 3軸ァクチユエータを用いて対物レンズを駆動変位する状態を、さら に具体的に説明する。 3軸ァクチユエータを備えた光ピックアップ装置は、図 1に示すように、光ディスク 1を 回転操作するスピンドルモータ 2を内蔵したディスクドライブ装置内に配置されて 、る
3軸ァクチユエータは、スピンドルモータ 2によって回転操作される光ディスク 1に対 向して配置され、このァクチユエータによって駆動変位されるボビン 3に対物レンズ 4 を搭載している。
図示しないが、半導体レーザ等の光源から出射された光ビーム Lは、対物レンズ 4 により集光され、光ディスク 1の信号記録面に照射される。
図 1に示す光ピックアップ装置において、ボビン 3に搭載された対物レンズ 4は、 3軸 ァクチユエータにより、この対物レンズ 4の光軸と平行な方向のフォーカス方向 F、光 ビーム Lが照射される光ディスク 1に設けられた記録トラックを横断する方向であって フォーカス方向 Fと直交する方向であるトラッキング方向 T、及び記録トラックの接線 方向であるタンゼンシャル方向 Tanを中心とする回転方向のラジアルチルト方向 Rad ZTiltの 3軸方向に駆動変位される。
なお、ラジアルチルト方向 RadZTiltは、図 1において、ボビン 3より所定距離下方 の点 Aを中心として、トラッキング方向 Tの軸上を円弧状に運動する方向をいう。なお 、点 Aを中心として、タンジュンシャル方向 Tanの軸上を円弧状に運動する方向をタ ンジェンシャルチルト方向 TanZTiltと!、う。
3軸ァクチユエータは、対物レンズ 4を介して照射される光ビーム Lが光ディスク 1の 信号記録面上に合焦している力否かを検出して得られるフォーカスエラー信号、光ビ ーム が光ディスク 1の記録トラック上に位置して 、る力否化を検出して得られるトラッ キングエラー信号、光ビーム Lの光ディスク 1に対する傾き量を検出して得られるラジ アルチルト制御信号に基づ 、てボビン 3を駆動変位することにより、対物レンズ 4がフ オーカス方向 F、トラッキング方向 T、及びラジアルチルト方向 RadZTiltに駆動変位 される。
対物レンズ 4が上述した 3軸方向のエラー信号に応じて駆動変位されることにより、 この対物レンズ 4から出射される光ビーム Lは、光ディスク 1の信号記録面に合焦され るとともに所定の記録トラック上に位置され、さらに、光ディスク 1の信号記録面に対し 傾くことなく垂直に入射される。その結果、光ビーム Lにより光ディスク 1の記録トラック を正確に走査することができ、高精度に記録又は再生を行うことができる。
発明の開示
発明が解決しょうとする課題
図 1を参照して説明した光ピックアップ装置は、 1つのボビンに 1つの対物レンズを 搭載したものである力 上述したように駆動変位される 1つのボビンに 2つの対物レン ズを搭載することにより、 2つの対物レンズのそれぞれについて、フォーカス方向 F、ト ラッキング方向 T、及びラジアルチルト方向 RadZTiltの 3軸方向に駆動変位させ、 各対物レンズからそれぞれ出射される光ビーム Lを、光ディスク 1の信号記録面に合 焦するとともに所定の記録トラック上に位置させ、さらに、光ディスク 1の信号記録面に 対し傾くことなく垂直に入射することが可能となる。
ところで、 2つの対物レンズを 1つのボビンに取り付けた光ピックアップ装置において 、光ディスクに対する一方の対物レンズのタンジュンシャルチルト方向 TanZTiltの 傾きが最小となるように組み立てた場合、他方の対物レンズのタンジェンシャルチルト 方向 TanZTiltの傾きを、一方の対物レンズと同様に高精度に維持することが極め て困難である。その結果、一方の対物レンズに対し組み立て精度を高精度に維持す ることができな 、対物レンズを用いて光ビームを光ディスクに照射した場合、光ビーム は、タンジェンシャルチルト方向 TanZTiltに大きな傾きが発生することになる。その 結果、他方の対物レンズを用いて光ビームを光ディスクに照射したとき、この光ビーム の傾きに起因するコマ収差が発生してしまう。
上述したような 3軸方向に対物レンズを駆動変位するようにした光ピックアップ装置 は、タンジュンシャルチルト方向への駆動変位を行う機能を有するものではな 、ので 、上述したような対物レンズを含む光学素子の組み付け誤差等に起因するコマ収差 の補正を行うこともできな 、。
上述したような、 2つの対物レンズの両方に対してコマ収差を補正する方法としては 、一方の対物レンズの組み付けを完了後、その状態で、他方の対物レンズにコマ収 差が発生しな!、ようにボビン上に組み付ける方法がある力 そのように他方の対物レ ンズの組み付けを行うのは、極めて困難であり、仮にそのような組み付けができたとし ても、対物レンズ以外の光学系で発生するコマ収差を抑えることはできな 、。
他の方法として、 4軸ァクチユエータを用いる方法が考えられる力 4軸ァクチユエ一 タは、その構成が極めて複雑となるばかりか、光ピックアップ装置自体が大型化し、 ディスクドライブ装置の限られた空間内に配置することも困難となってしまうばかり、光 ビームの光ディスクに対するタンジュンシャルチルト方向の傾きを検出する検出感度 が低下する可能性があり、正確な制御を行うことが困難である。
本発明は、上述したような実情に鑑みて提案されたものであり、 2つの対物レンズを 搭載する光ピックアップ装置において、各対物レンズに対して容易に、しかも正確に コマ収差を補正することができるようにした光ピックアップ装置及びこの光ピックアップ 装置を用いた光ディスク装置、並びにその制御方法を提供しょうとするものである。 本発明のさらに他の目的、本発明によって得られる具体的な利点は、以下におい て図面を参照して説明される実施の形態から一層明らかにされるであろう。

以下、本発明の実施の形態を図面を参照して詳細に説明する。なお、本発明は以 下の例に限定されるものではなぐ本発明の要旨を逸脱しない範囲で、適宜変更可 能であることは言うまでもな!/、。
本発明を適用したディスクドライブ装置は、波長をほぼ 780nmとする光ビームを用 いて情報の再生が行われる CD (Compact Disc)、波長を 650〜660nmとする光ビー ムを用いて情報の記録又は再生が行われる DVD (Digital Versatile Disc)、さらに短 い波長とするほぼ 405nmの光ビームを用いて情報の記録又は再生が行われる BD ( Blu-ray Disc)の各光ディスクを記録媒体として用いるようにしたものである。
このディスクドライブ装置 11は、図 2に示すような構成を備えるものであって、固定 プレート 21を介して、パーソナルコンピュータや AV (Audio and Visual)機器などの主 装置に取り付けられる。また、固定プレート 21の上面には、装置本体 22が固定され ている。
装置本体 22内には、このディスクドライブ装置によって記録又は再生が行われる C D、 DVD, BDのいずれかの光ディスク 1が装着され、この装着された光ディスク 1を 回転駆動するためのスピンドルモータ 23が設けられている。スピンドルモータ 23は、 図 2に示すように、装置本体 22内のほぼ中央に配置されて 、る。
装置本体 22内には、スピンドルモータ 23によって回転操作される光ディスク 1に光 ビームを照射し、光ディスク 1に情報の記録を行 、又は光ディスク 1に記録された情 報の再生を行う光ピックアップ装置 70が設けられている。
ここで用いられる光ピックアップ装置 70は、共通のボビン 26に第 1及び第 2の対物 レンズ 31, 32を搭載して構成されている。そして、ボビン 26は、このボビン 26を後述 するように 3軸方向に駆動変位させ、このボビン 26に搭載された第 1及び第 2の対物 レンズ 31, 32の位置や傾きを駆動変位させる対物レンズ駆動装置としての 3軸ァク チユエータに支持され、キャリッジ 24に取り付けられている。キャリッジ 24内には、図 示しないが、光ディスク 1に照射される光ビームを出射する光源として半導体レーザ が設けられ、さらに、半導体レーザから出射された光ビームを対物レンズに導き、ある いは光ディスク 1から反射され対物レンズ 31, 32に入射された反射光ビームを光検 出器に導く複数の光学部品からなる光学系が配置されている。
この光ピックアップ装置 70は、ピックアップ送りモータ 28により回転操作される送り ネジ 27と、この送りネジ 27に平行に配設された移動ガイド軸 33により支持されている 。光ピックアップ装置 70は、送りネジ 27がピックアップ送りモータ 28により回転操作さ れることにより、移動ガイド軸 33を移動方向の基準として、光ディスク 1の半径方向で あるトラッキング方向に移動操作される。
ここで用いられる光ピックアップ装置 70は、 CD、 DVD, BDの記録又は再生に用 いられるものであるので、波長をほぼ 780nmとする第 1の波長の光ビーム、波長を 6 50〜660nmとする第 2の波長の光ビーム、波長をほぼ 405nmとする第 3の波長の 光ビームを出射する光源を備えている。光源は、半導体レーザを用いて構成され、ス ピンドルモータ 23に装着された光ディスク 1の種類に応じた波長の光ビームを出射す るように駆動される。
なお、第 1、第 2、第 3の波長の光ビームを出射する光源は、各波長の光ビームを出 射する第 1、第 2、第 3の発光素子を備えている。
そして、第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32を搭載したボビン 26は、後述する 3軸ァク チユエータ 75により、上記対物レンズ 31, 32の光軸と平行な方向のフォーカス方向 F、光ビーム Lが照射される光ディスク 1に設けられた記録トラックを横断する方向であ つてフォーカス方向 Fと直交する方向であるトラッキング方向 T、及び記録トラックの接 線方向であるタンゼンシャル方向 Tanを中心とする回転方向のラジアルチルト方向 R adZTiltの 3軸方向に駆動変位される。
上述したようなスピンドルモータ 23及び光ピックアップ装置 70を内蔵したディスクド ライブ装置 11の装置本体 22の前面には、前面パネル 41が取り付けられている。この 前面パネル 41側には取り出しボタン 42が設けられ、この取り出しボタン 42を操作す ることにより主装置に格納されているディスクドライブ装置 11が主装置力 引き出され 、ディスクドライブ装置 11に対する光ディスク 1の装脱が可能となる。
なお、前面パネル 41側には、光ディスク 1を再生したとき得られるオーディオ信号を 出力するためのヘッドフォンジャック 43、オーディオ出力を調整するボリュームつまみ 44が設けられている。 次に、上述したような構成を備えるディスクドライブ装置 11の内部構成を図 3を参照 してさらに具体的に説明する。
まず、光ピックアップ装置 70は、上述したように、スピンドルモータ 23に装着された 光ディスク 1の記録フォーマットに対応した波長の光ビームを光源から出射し、第 1又 は第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32を介して光ディスク 1の信号記録面に照射する。また、光 ピックアップ装置 70は、光ディスク 1に照射され、この光ディスク 1の信号記録面によ つて反射された反射光ビームを、光検出器であるフォトディテクタ (PD)により検出す る。フォトディテクタ (PD)により検出された反射光ビームは、このフォトディテクタ (PD )により電気信号に変換され、 PD信号として出力される。この PD信号は、演算回路 7 1に入力される。
また、光ピックアップ装置 70は、第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32を搭載したボビン 26を 3軸方向に駆動変位し、このボビン 26に搭載された第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 3 1, 32を駆動変位させる対物レンズ駆動装置としての 3軸ァクチユエータ 75を備え、 さらに、光ディスク 1に照射される光ビームに発生するコマ収差を補正するためのコマ 収差補正素子 76を備える。
3軸ァクチユエータ 75は、ボビン 26を、対物レンズ 31, 32の光軸と平行な方向のフ オーカス方向 F、フォーカス方向 Fと直交する方向であるトラッキング方向 T、及びタン ゼンシャル方向 Tanを中心とする回転方向のラジアルチルト方向 RadZTiltの 3軸方 向に駆動変位させることにより、第 1又は第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32から出射される光 ビームが光ディスク 1の信号記録面に合焦されるとともに所定の記録トラック上に位置 され、さらに、光ディスク 1の信号記録面に対し傾くことなく垂直に入射されるように制 御する。その結果、光ビームにより光ディスク 1の記録トラックを正確に走査することが でき、高精度に記録又は再生が実行される。この 3軸ァクチユエータ 75の駆動制御 は、制御回路 73から出力される制御信号に基づいて行われる。
また、コマ収差補正素子 76は、ここを透過する光ビームの屈折率を変化させること により、光ディスク 1の信号記録面に照射される光ビームに発生するコマ収差を補正 する。コマ収差補正素子 76によるコマ収差の補正動作については、図 5及び図 6を 参照してさらに後述する。 光ディスク 1からの反射光ビームをフォトディテクタ (PD)により検出して得られる PD 信号が入力される演算回路 71は、 PD信号から、情報再生用のデータ検出信号 (RF 信号)、フォーカスエラー信号、及びトラッキングエラー信号を算出し、データ検出信 号を再生回路 72に出力するとともに、フォーカスエラー信号及びトラッキングエラー 信号を制御回路 73に出力する。
演算回路 71から出力されるデータ検出信号が入力される再生回路 72は、入力さ れたデータ検出信号をィコライズした後、 2値化し、さら〖こ、エラー訂正しながら復調し た信号を、再生信号として主装置に出力する。
また、制御回路 73は、入力装置 74から供給されるユーザの操作に対応した操作信 号に応じて、ディスクドライブ装置 11の各部を制御する。
例えば、制御回路 73は、入力装置 74から供給される光ディスク 1の再生開始を示 す操作信号に対応して、スピンドルモータ 23を制御し、光ディスク 1を所定の速度 (角 速度)で回転操作する。また、制御回路 73は、光ピックアップ装置 70から出射された 光ビームが光ディスク 1の所定の記録トラック上に位置するように、ピックアップ送りモ ータ 28及び 3軸ァクチユエータ 75を駆動制御する。
さらに、制御回路 73は、光ディスク 1から反射される反射光ビームをフォトディテクタ (PD)により検出して得られるフォーカスエラー信号、トラッキングエラー信号に基づ いて 3軸ァクチユエータ 75を駆動制御することにより、ボビン 26をフォーカス方向及 びトラッキング方向に駆動変位させ、第 1又は第 2の対物レンズ 31. 32を通過した光 ビームが光ディスク 1の信号記録面上に合焦し、かつ所望の記録トラック上に位置す るように制御する。また、制御回路 73は、 3軸ァクチユエータ 75を駆動変位させ、さら にコマ収差補正素子 76を制御することにより、第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32を透 過して光ディスク 1に入射される光ビームに発生するコマ収差を補正する。
ここで、光ピックアップ装置 70のキャリッジ 24内に配設される 3軸ァクチユエータ 75 の具体的な構成を図 4を参照して説明する。
3軸ァクチユエータ 75は、図 4に示すように、薄い平板状のベース 101を備え、この ベース 101の上面側の一方の側である図 4中右側の位置に固定部材 102を取り付け ている。 第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32を搭載したボビン 26は、基端部側を固定部材 10 2に支持された左右 3本ずつのサスペンションワイヤ 103a乃至 103c及び 104a乃至 104cにより支持されている。即ち、ボビン 26は、左右 3本ずつの計 6本のサスペンシ ヨンワイヤにより支持されて 、る。
ここで、第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32は、この光ピックアップ装置 70をディスク ドライブ装置 11に取り付けたとき、スピンドルモータ 23によって回転操作される光ディ スク 1に設けられた記録トラックの接線方向のタンジュンシャル方向 Tanに並ぶように ボビン 26に搭載される。なお、ボビン 26を支持するサスペンションワイヤ 103a乃至 1 03c及び 104a乃至 104cの延長方向も、タンジェンシャル方向 Tanとされている。 本発明に係る光ピックアップ装置 70を構成する 3軸ァクチユエータ 75は、ボビン 26 の外周面に図示しないフォーカシングコイルとチルトコイルとを卷線するとともに、ボビ ン 26のタンゼンシャル方向に位置する各側面に一対ずつの第 1及び第 2のトラツキン グコィノレ 106a, 106bを取り付けている。この 3軸ァクチユエータ 75は、タンジェンシャ ル方向にボビン 26を挟んで対向するようにマグネット 107a, 107bを配している。これ らマグネット 107a, 107bは、ベース 101の一部を折り曲げるようにして形成したョー ク 108a, 108bに固定されている。また、各マグネット 107a, 107bは、第 1及び第 2 のトラッキングコイル 106a, 106bに対向されるとともに、図示しないフォーカシングコ ィルとチルトコイルとに対向するように配置されて 、る。
この 3軸ァクチユエータ 75は、フォーカシングコイル、第 1及び第 2のトラッキングコィ ル 106a, 106b,チルトコイルに制御回路 73から出力される制御信号に応じた駆動 電流が供給されることにより、各コイルに流れる駆動電流とマグネット 107a, 107bか らの磁界との作用により、 6本のサスペンションワイヤ 103a乃至 103c及び 104a乃至 104cにより支持されたボビン 26をフォーカス方向 F、フォーカス方向 Fと直交する方 向であるトラッキング方向 T、及びタンゼンシャル方向 Tanを中心とする回転方向のラ ジアルチルト方向 RadZTiltの 3軸方向に駆動変位させる。
次に、本発明に係る光ピックアップ装置 70の光学系を図 5を参照して説明する。 本発明に係る光ピックアップ装置 70は、第 1及び第 2の光学系を備えている。第 1 の光学系は、第 1の光源となる第 1の半導体レーザ 141と第 1のコリメータレンズ 142 と第 1の対物レンズ 31により構成されている。また、第 2の光学系は、第 2の光源とな る第 2の半導体レーザ 241と、第 2のコリメータレンズ 242とコマ収差補正素子 76と第 2の対物レンズ 32により構成されて!、る。
第 1の光学系を構成する第 1の半導体レーザ 141は、 BDの記録再生に用いられる 405nmの波長の光ビーム Lを出射する。第 1の半導体レーザ 141から出射された光 ビーム Lは、第 1のコリメータレンズ 142により平行光にされ、第 1の対物レンズ 31に 入射する。第 1の対物レンズ 31は、入射してきた光ビーム Lを光ディスク 1の信号記 録面上に集光して照射して光スポットを形成させる。ここで、第 1の対物レンズ 31は、 光軸中心が光ディスク 1の中心を通る中心線上に位置するように配置されている。 第 2の光学系を構成する第 2の半導体レーザ 241は、 DVDの記録又は再生に用い られる 660nmの波長の光ビーム L及び CDの再生に用いられる 780nmの波長の光

ところで、本発明に係る光ピックアップ装置 70にボビン 26に第 1及び第 2の対物レ ンズ 31, 32を組み付けるとき、のいずれか一方の対物レンズ 31, 32のタンジェンシ ャルチルト方向 TanZTiltの傾きが最小となるように組み付けられる。本実施の形態 では、光ピックアップ装置 70の第 1の光学系を構成する第 1の対物レンズ 31を、その 光軸が光ディスク 1に対するタンジュンシャルチルト方向 TanZTiltの傾きが最小とな るようにボビン 26が組み付けられる。その結果、この第 1の光学系のコマ収差の補正 が図られている。
なお、コマ収差の補正のためには、第 1の対物レンズ 31の組み付け精度のみなら ず、第 1の半導体レーザ 141から出射された光ビーム Lを第 1の対物レンズ 31に導く 第 1のコリメータレンズ 142等の他の光学部品の組み付け精度の調整も必要に応じ て行われる。
したがって、第 1の光学系では、第 1の対物レンズ 31の光軸がフォーカス方向 Fと高 精度に平行となり、タンジュンシャルチルト方向 TanZTiltへの傾きがなくなり、この 第 1の対物レンズ 31を透過して集光される光ビーム Lのコマ収差の発生を抑えること ができる。さらに、フォーカス方向 F、トラッキング方向 T及びラジアルチルト方向 Rad ZTilt方向のエラーは、 3軸ァクチユエータ 75により駆動変位されることにより制御さ れる。
一方、第 2の光学系を構成する第 2の対物レンズ 32のフォーカス方向 F、トラツキン グ方向 T及びラジアルチルト方向 RadZTilt方向のエラーも、第 1の光学系を構成す る第 1の対物レンズ 31と同様に、 3軸ァクチユエータ 75により駆動変位されることによ り制御される。
本実施の形態の光ピックアップ装置 70は、第 1の光学系を構成する第 1の対物レン ズ 31を、その光軸が光ディスク 1に対するタンジェンシャルチルト方向 TanZTiltの 傾きが最小となるようにボビン 26が組み付けるものの、第 2の光学系を構成する第 2 の対物レンズ 32については、第 1の対物レンズ 31に要求されるような精度でボビン 2 6には組み付けられていない。その結果、第 2の対物レンズ 32においては、タンジェ ンシャルチルト方向 TanZTiltの傾きを修正し、その光軸を光ディスク 1の信号記録 面に垂直なフォーカス方向 Fと平行な方向に高精度に維持することができない。 即ち、第 2の光学系においては、第 1の光学系において修正されたコマ収差以上の コマ収差が相対的に発生してしまう。
このように第 2の対物レンズ 32がタンジェンシャルチルト方向 Tan/Tiltの傾きを十 分に補正できな!/、ことや、その他の光学素子の組み付け精度の調整が十分に行わ れないことに起因して光ディスク 1に照射される光ビームに発生するコマ収差を補正 するため、コマ収差補正素子 76が設けられている。コマ収差補正素子 76は、図 5に 示すように、第 2の対物レンズ 32と第 2のコリメータレンズ 242との間に配置されてい る。
次に、図 6A、図 6Bを参照して、コマ収差補正素子 76について説明する。
コマ収差補正素子 76は、ガラスやプラスチックなどを材料とする 2枚の透明基板 16 1, 162により構成されている。これら透明基板 161, 162は、重ね合わせられ、その 重なり合った長方形の一辺において、エポキシやアクリル系の接着剤 163により接着 されて結合されている。
コマ収差補正素子 76は、 2枚の透明基板 161, 162の間の、図 6A中点線で示され ている所定の円により囲まれた領域 164内に、図示しない注入ロカも液晶が注入さ れ、液晶層が形成されている。そして、円形の領域 164内において、第 2の光学系の 第 2の対物レンズ 32を透過する光ビーム L、Lに生じるコマ収差を補正するように、

液晶層力 タンジ ンシャル方向 Tanに対して略対称ないくつかの領域に分割され ている。
液晶は、所定の電圧が印加されると、その印加された電圧によって生じる電界に応 じて液晶分子の配向が変化する特性を有している。この特性を利用して、コマ収差補 正素子 76は、ここを透過する光ビーム L、 Lの進行方向に垂直な面内での屈折率

を、分割された領域ごとに任意に調整することができる。即ち、コマ収差補正素子 76 は、分割された領域ごとに、光ビーム L、 Lの屈折率を変化させることによって、第 2

したがって、共通のボビン 26に第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32を搭載した光ピッ クアップ装置 70において、第 1の対物レンズ 31を含む第 1の光学系においてタンジ ェンシャルチルト方向 TanZTiltのコマ収差が最小となるように第 1の対物レンズ 31 をボビン 26を組み付け、第 2の対物レンズ 32を備える第 2の光学系では、第 2の対物 レンズ 32と第 2のコリメータレンズ 242との間にコマ収差補正素子 76を配置すること により、第 1の光学系に対して相対的に発生しているタンジェンシャルチルト方向 Tan ZTiltの誤差に起因するコマ収差が補正される。即ち、第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31 , 32を共通のボビン 26に搭載する光ピックアップ装置 70において、第 1の対物レン ズ 31を備える第 1の光学系及び第 2の対物レンズ 32を備える第 2の光学系のいずれ の光学系においても、コマ収差の発生を抑えて最適な状態で光ビーム L , L、 Lを
1 2 3 光ディスク 1の信号記録面に照射することができる。
このように、共通のボビン 26に第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32を搭載した光ピック アップ装置 70において、第 1の対物レンズ 31を含む第 1の光学系においてタンジェ ンシャルチルト方向 TanZTiltのコマ収差が最小となるように第 1の対物レンズ 31を ボビン 26を組み付け、第 2の対物レンズ 32を備える第 2の光学系については、そのよ うな高精度の組み付け調整を行わなくともコマ収差補正素子 76によりタンジェンシャ ルチルト方向 TanZTiltのコマ収差が補正できる。なお、第 2の光学系側に設けられ るコマ収差補正素子 76は、ボビン 26に組み付けられる第 2の対物レンズ 32の組み 付け誤差に起因するコマ収差の補正のみならず、第 2の対物レンズ 32以外の光学 素子に起因するコマ収差の補正をも行うものである。
なお、共通のボビン 26に取り付けられた第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32の光軸と 平行な方向のフォーカス方向 F、フォーカス方向 Fと直交する方向であるトラッキング 方向 T、及びタンゼンシャル方向 Tanを中心とする回転方向のラジアルチルト方向 R adZTiltの誤差については、ボビン 26が各方向のエラー信号に基づいて 3軸ァクチ ユエータ 75により駆動変位されることにより修正制御される。
次に、図 7のフローチャートを参照して、本発明に係る光ピックアップ装置 70が組み 込まれたディスクドライブ装置 11の制御動作を説明する。
このディスクドライブ装置 11は、ユーザによって入力装置 74が操作され、入力装置 74から例えば再生開始を示す操作信号が入力されると、制御回路 73は、ディスクド ライブ装置 11のスピンドルモータ 23を回転駆動させ、このスピンドルモータ 23に装 着されて!ヽる光ディスク 1を回転操作させる。光ディスク 1の回転が開始されたステツ プ S1において、光ピックアップ装置 70が駆動され、第 1又は第 2の半導体レーザ 14 1, 142から光ビーム Lが出射され、光ディスク 1に照射される。光ディスク 1の信号記 録面に照射され、この信号記録面力 反射された反射光ビームを光検出器であるフ オトディテクタ (PD)で検出し、電気信号に変換して得られた信号を PD信号として演 算回路 71に出力して、ステップ S2に進む。
ステップ S2において、演算回路 71は、光ピックアップ装置 70から供給される PD信 号から、情報再生用のデータ検出信号 (RF信号)、フォーカスエラー信号、及びトラ ッキングエラー信号を算出し、データ検出信号を再生回路 72に出力するとともに、フ オーカスエラー信号及びトラッキングエラー信号を制御回路 73に出力して、ステップ S3に進む。
ステップ S3において、制御回路 73は、スピンドルモータ 23、ピックアップ送りモータ 28を駆動制御し、さらに、演算回路 71から供給されるフォーカスエラー信号及びトラ ッキングエラー信号、チルト制御信号に基づいて 3軸ァクチユエータ 75を制御し、さら にまた、コマ収差補正素子 76を制御する。そして、光ディスク 1の再生の終了とともに 、光ピックアップ装置 70の制御処理が終了する。
ところで、光ピックアップ装置 70は、共通のボビン 26に第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 3 1, 32を搭載した場合、 1つの対物レンズのみを搭載したものに比し、装置自体が大 型化してしまう。光ピックアップ装置 70の大型化は、ディスクドライブ装置 11の所定の スペース内に収納することができなくなり、あるいは収納できなくとも装置 11内に余裕 がなくなるという問題や、光ピックアップ装置 70のバランスが悪くなり制御を難しくする t 、う問題などを発生させる。
そこで、次に、光ピックアップ装置 70を一層小型化する例を説明する。
図 8は、上述した図 4に示すボビン 26に搭載されている第 1又は第 2の対物レンズ 3 1, 32の側面図を示している。
第 1又は第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32は、レンズ本体 201と、ボビン 26に固定するため のフランジ部 202とを備える。
第 1又は第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32は、透過する光ビームを集光するようにレンズ本 体 201が形成されている。フランジ部 202は、光ビームの集光に影響のない部分で あり、ボビン 26への接着ぶとなる。
図 9は、図 4に示したボビン 26の第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32が搭載されてい る面の上面側を示している。
第 1の対物レンズ 31と第 2の対物レンズ 32とは、図 9に示すように、所定の間隔、例 えば、 0. 2mmの間隔 Dを隔てて配置されている。ここで、第 1の対物レンズ 31のフ ランジ部 202の幅 Wは、例えば、 0. 2mmとされ、第 2の対物レンズ 32のフランジ部 202の幅 Wは、例えば、 0. 2mmとされている。なお、第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31

, 32間の間隔 D、各フランジ部 20幅 W、 Wは、上述した数値に限定されるもので

はない。
第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32がプラスチック製のレンズである場合、これら対物 レンズ 31, 32は、次のようにして製造されるのが一般的である。即ち、対物レンズ 31 , 32は、十字型又は放射型をした棒状ランナの各先端に、成型用金型装置のキヤビ ティが連結された状態で射出成形される。そして、第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32 と棒状ランナとの連結部分であるゲート部が切断、即ち、ゲートカットされることにより 1つずつの対物レンズ 31, 32に分離される。
そこで、対物レンズ 31, 32を棒状ランナと分離させる際、対物レンズ 31, 32のゲー ト部をカットするのではなぐ対物レンズ 31, 32のフランジ部 202をカットすることによ り、対物レンズ 31, 32をさらに小型化し、その小型化された分に応じて、 1つのボビン 26に搭載される第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ 31, 32の各中心間の距離を短縮し、ボビ ン 26の小型化を図ることができる。
次に、光ピックアップ装置 70の一層の小型化を図った他の例を図 10を参照して説 明する。
この光ピックアップ装置 70は、図 9に示す第 1の対物レンズ 31に代えて第 1の対物 レンズ 231力 図 9と同様の第 2の対物レンズ 32とともに、ボビン 221に搭載されてい る。
第 1の対物レンズ 231は、フランジ部 202の第 2の対物レンズ 32に近接する図 10中 斜線を付してある部分が直線状にカットされている。この第 1の対物レンズ 231と第 2 の対物レンズ 32との間隔 Dは、 0. 2mmに保たれているものの、フランジ部 202の第

2の対物レンズ 32に近接する部分がカットされている分の幅分の例えば 0. 2mmだ け、第 1の対物レンズ 231と第 2の対物レンズ 32との中心間の距離が短縮できる。こ れにより、ボビン 221の図 10中横方向であるタンジュンシャル方向 Tanの大きさ(幅) も、図 9に示すボビン 26に比し約 0. 2mm小型化できる。
さらに、光ピックアップ装置 70の一層の小型化を図った他の例を図 11を参照して 説明する。
この光ピックアップ装置 70は、図 10の第 2の対物レンズ 32に代えて第 1の対物レン ズ 251力 図 10と同様の第 1の対物レンズ 231とともに、ボビン 241に搭載されている 第 2の対物レンズ 251は、フランジ部 202の第 1の対物レンズ 231に近接する部分 が直線状にカットされている。即ち、第 1の対物レンズ 231と第 2の対物レンズ 251と の間隔 Dは、 0. 2mmに保たれているものの、フランジ部 202の第 1の対物レンズ 23

1に近接する部分がカットされている幅分の 0. 2mmだけ、第 1の対物レンズ 231と第 2の対物レンズ 251との中心間の距離が短縮できる。これにより、ボビン 221の図 11 中横方向であるタンジ ンシャル方向 Tanの大きさ(幅)も、図 9に示すボビン 26に比 し約 0. 4mm小型化できる。
さらに、光ピックアップ装置 70の一層の小型化を図った他の例を図 12を参照して 説明する。
この光ピックアップ装置 70は、図 9に示す第 1の対物レンズ 31に代えて第 1の対物 レンズ 271力 図 9と同様の第 2の対物レンズ 32とともに、ボビン 261に搭載されてい る。
第 1の対物レンズ 271は、フランジ部 202の第 2の対物レンズ 32に近接する部分が 直線状にカットされている。ここで、第 1の対物レンズ 271のフランジ部 202は、第 2の 対物レンズ 32の外形に沿ってカットされている。そして、第 1の対物レンズ 271のフラ ンジ部 202のカットされた凹部と、第 2の対物レンズ 32とが接して配置されている。こ れにより、ボビン 261の図 12中横方向であるタンジュンシャル方向 Tanの大きさ(幅) も、図 9に示すボビン 26に比し、第 1の対物レンズ 271のフランジ部 202の幅分の 0. 2mmと各レンズ間の距離分の 0. 2mmの和である約 0. 4mm小型化できる。
図 10乃至図 12に示したように、第 1又は第 2の対物レンズのうちの少なくとも一方の 、集光に影響のないフランジ部 202をカットし、第 1と第 2の対物レンズを、フランジ部 202がカットされた分に応じて近接して配置させることにより、これら対物レンズを搭載 するボビンを小型化することができ、さらに、光ピックアップ装置 70全体の小型化も可 能となる。
また、 1つのボビン 26に搭載される 2つの対物レンズの中心間の距離を短縮するこ とは、次のような効果もある。
光ビームの光ディスクに対するトラッキング位置を制御するトラッキング制御方法に おいて、 3本の光ビームを用いる 3ビーム法がある。この 3ビーム法は、メインビームの 両側にサブビームを作り、サブビームからの反射光強度が一定になるように対物レン ズの位置を制御する手法である。 図 5に示したように、 2つの対物レンズがタンジェンシャル方向に並ぶ光ピックアップ 装置 70において、一方の対物レンズ(図 5では、第 1の対物レンズ 31)を同径ライン( 光ディスク 1のラジアル方向)上に配置した場合、他方の対物レンズ(図 5では、第 2の 対物レンズ 32)は、光ディスク 1の中心を通る中心線上力 外れてしまうことになる。 光ディスク 1の中心線上では、記録トラックは、光ディスク 1の外周側から内周側まで の 、ずれの位置にぉ 、てもラジアル方向に対して垂直であり、記録トラックに対する サブビームの位置は、光ディスク 1の外周から内周までほぼ同一である。一方、第 2の 対物レンズ 32のように、光ディスク 1の中心線上からタンジュンシャル方向に外れる場 合、その位置が中心線上力 離れるほど、記録トラックの曲率の変化により、光デイス ク 1の外周と内周とで記録トラックに対するサブビームの位置がずれるため、光デイス ク 1の外周側から内周側までのすべての位置において正確なトラッキング制御を行う ことが困難になってくる。
したがって、 2つの対物レンズがタンジェンシャル方向に並ぶ光ピックアップ装置 70 において、対物レンズの中心間の距離を短縮する、即ち、光ピックアップ装置 70の小 型化を図ることは、トラッキング制御方法に 3ビーム法を採用した場合に、光ディスク の中心線上に光軸中心が位置しな 、対物レンズに対するトラッキング制御を容易に し、検出感度を高めるという効果を奏する。
また、光ピックアップ装置 70を小型化することは、光ピックアップ装置 70の剛性を強 化したり、光ピックアップ装置 70の軽量ィ匕などにも貢献する。
なお、上述した例では、対物レンズがプラスチックにより形成されている例を挙げて 説明したが、対物レンズがガラスにより形成されている場合についても、同様にフラン ジ部をカットすることにより、ボビンを小型化することができる。
上述した実施の形態においては、 2つの対物レンズがタンジュンシャル方向に並ぶ 光ピックアップ装置について説明した力 2つの対物レンズをラジアル方向に並ぶよう にすることちでさる。
なお、図 4を参照して説明したように、 2つの対物レンズがタンジェンシャル方向に 並んで配置されている場合には、 3軸ァクチユエータ 75がフォーカス方向、トラツキン グ方向、及びラジアルチルト方向の位置ずれを制御し、コマ収差補正素子 76がタン ジェンシャルチルト方向の制御を行うようにした力 2つの対物レンズがラジアル方向 に並んで配置されている場合には、光ディスク 1とのワーキングディスタンス (W. D. ) を確保するために、 3軸ァクチユエータ 75がフォーカス方向、ラジアル方向、及びタン ジェンシャルチルト方向の位置ずれを制御し、コマ収差補正素子 76がラジアルチル ト方向の補正するようにすればょ 、。
換言すれば、コマ収差補正素子 76は、タンジェンシャルチルト方向又はラジアルチ ルト方向のいずれの方向のコマ収差を補正するように配置することができる。
また、コマ収差補正素子 76は、高精度の傾き調整であるスキュー調整が実行し得 な 、第 1又は第 2の光学系の 、ずれか一方に設けるようにすればよ!、ので、光デイス クの中心を通る中心線上に位置する第 1の光学系にお ヽて傾きが発生して ヽる場合 には、第 1の光学系の第 1のコリメータレンズ 142と第 1の対物レンズ 31との間にコマ 収差補正素子 76が配置される。
なお、本明細書において、フローチャートに記述されたステップは、記載された順序 に沿って時系列的に行われる処理はもちろん、必ずしも時系列的に処理されなくとも 、並列的あるいは個別に実行される処理をも含むものである。
本発明は、図面を参照して説明した上述の実施例に限定されるものではなぐ添付 の請求の範囲及びその主旨を逸脱することなぐ様々な変更、置換又はその同等の ものを行うことができることは当業者にとって明らかである。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 1.第 1の波長の光ビームを出射する第 1の発光素子と、
第 2の波長の光ビームを出射する第 2の発光素子と、
第 3の波長の光ビームを出射する第 3の発光素子と、
第 1の対物レンズを有し、前記第 1乃至前記第 3の発光素子から出射された光ビー ムのうちのいずれかの光ビームを前記第 1の対物レンズで集光して光ディスクに照射 する第 1の光学系と、
第 2の対物レンズを有し、前記第 1乃至前記第 3の発光素子から出射された光ビー ムのうちのいずれかの光ビームを前記第 2の対物レンズで集光して光ディスクに入射 させる第 2の光学系と、
前記第 1及び第 2の対物レンズを保持するボビンを有し、光ディスクの記録面に垂 直な方向であるフォーカシング方向及び光ディスクの略半径方向であるトラッキング 方向と、ラジアル方向の軸上を円弧状に可動するラジアルチルト方向又はラジアル 方向と垂直な方向であるタンジュンシャル方向の軸上を円弧状に可動するタンジェン シャルチルト方向のうちのいずれか一方との 3軸方向に前記ボビンを駆動変位させる 対物レンズ駆動装置と、
前記対物レンズ駆動装置によって制御されない前記ラジアルチルト方向又は前記 タンジ ンシャルチルト方向のうちの他方のコマ収差が補正されている前記第 1の光 学系に対して、相対的に発生する前記第 2の光学系のコマ収差を補正する収差補正 手段と、
を備えることを特徴とする光ピックアップ装置。
[2] 2.前記コマ収差補正手段は、透過する光ビームの屈折率を変化させることによりコ マ収差を補正することを特徴とする請求項 1記載の光ピックアップ装置。
[3] 3.前記第 1の波長が約 405nmであり、前記第 2の波長が約 660nmであり、前記第 3 の波長が約 785nmであることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項記載の光ピックアップ 装置。
[4] 4.前記第 1の対物レンズには前記第 1の波長の光ビームが入射され、前記第 2の対 物レンズには前記第 2及び第 3の波長の光ビームが入射されることを特徴とする請求 の範囲第 3項記載の光ピックアップ装置。
[5] 5.前記第 1及び第 2の対物レンズは、タンジェンシャル方向に並んで上記ボビンに 保持されていることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項記載の光ピックアップ装置。
[6] 6.前記収差補正手段は、液晶補正素子であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 1項記 載の光ピックアップ装置。
[7] 7.光ディスクを回転操作するディスク回転操作手段と、
前記ディスク回転操作手段によって操作される光ディスクの信号記録面を光ビーム によって走査して情報の記録又は再生を行う光ピックアップ装置を備え、 前記光ピックアップ装置は、
第 1の波長の光ビームを出射する第 1の発光素子と、
第 2の波長の光ビームを出射する第 2の発光素子と、
第 3の波長の光ビームを出射する第 3の発光素子と、
第 1の対物レンズを有し、前記第 1乃至前記第 3の発光素子から出射された光ビー ムのうちのいずれかの光ビームを前記第 1の対物レンズで集光して光ディスクに照射 する第 1の光学系と、
第 2の対物レンズを有し、前記第 1乃至前記第 3の発光素子から出射された光ビー ムのうちのいずれかの光ビームを前記第 2の対物レンズで集光して光ディスクに入射 させる第 2の光学系と、
前記第 1及び第 2の対物レンズを保持するボビンを有し、光ディスクの記録面に垂 直な方向であるフォーカシング方向及び光ディスクの略半径方向であるトラッキング 方向と、ラジアル方向の軸上を円弧状に可動するラジアルチルト方向又はラジアル 方向と垂直な方向であるタンジュンシャル方向の軸上を円弧状に可動するタンジェン シャルチルト方向のうちのいずれか一方との 3軸方向に前記ボビンを駆動変位させる 対物レンズ駆動装置と、
前記対物レンズ駆動装置によって制御されない前記ラジアルチルト方向又は前記 タンジ ンシャルチルト方向のうちの他方のコマ収差が補正されている前記第 1の光 学系に対して、相対的に発生する前記第 2の光学系のコマ収差を補正する収差補正 手段とを備える ことを特徴とする光ディスク装置。
[8] 8.前記コマ収差補正手段は、透過する光ビームの屈折率を変化させることによりコ マ収差を補正することを特徴とする請求項 7記載の光ディスク装置。
[9] 9.前記第 1の波長が約 405nmであり、前記第 2の波長が約 660nmであり、前記第 3 の波長が約 785nmであることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 7項記載の光ディスク装置
[10] 10.前記第 1の対物レンズには前記第 1の波長の光ビームが入射され、前記第 2の 対物レンズには前記第 2及び第 3の波長の光ビームが入射されることを特徴とする請 求の範囲第 9項記載の光ディスク装置。
[11] 11.前記第 1及び第 2の対物レンズは、タンジュンシャル方向に並んで上記ボビンに 保持されていることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 7項記載の光ディスク装置。
[12] 12.前記収差補正手段は、液晶補正素子であることを特徴とする請求の範囲第 7項 記載の光ディスク装置。
[13] 13.第 1の波長の光ビームを出射する第 7の発光素子と、
第 2の波長の光ビームを出射する第 2の発光素子と、
第 3の波長の光ビームを出射する第 3の発光素子と、
第 1の対物レンズを有し、前記第 1乃至前記第 3の発光素子から出射された光ビー ムのうちのいずれかの光ビームを前記第 1の対物レンズで集光して光ディスクに照射 する第 1の光学系と、
第 2の対物レンズを有し、前記第 1乃至前記第 3の発光素子から出射された光ビー ムのうちのいずれかの光ビームを前記第 2の対物レンズで集光して光ディスクに入射 させる第 2の光学系と、
前記第 1及び第 2の対物レンズを保持するボビンを有し、光ディスクの記録面に垂 直な方向であるフォーカシング方向及び光ディスクの略半径方向であるトラッキング 方向と、ラジアル方向の軸上を円弧状に可動するラジアルチルト方向又はラジアル 方向と垂直な方向であるタンジュンシャル方向の軸上を円弧状に可動するタンジェン シャルチルト方向のうちのいずれか一方との 3軸方向に前記ボビンを駆動変位させる 対物レンズ駆動装置と、 前記対物レンズ駆動装置によって制御されない前記ラジアルチルト方向又は前記 タンジ ンシャルチルト方向のうちの他方のコマ収差が補正されている前記第 1の光 学系に対して、相対的に発生する前記第 2の光学系のコマ収差を補正する収差補正 手段とを備え、
前記フォーカシング方向及び前記トラッキング方向の制御信号と、前記ラジアルチ ルト方向又は前記タンジュンシャルチルト方向のいずれか一方の制御信号に基づい て前記ボビンを駆動変位させて、前記ボビンに保持された第 1及び第 2の対物レンズ の前記光ディスクに対する位置及び姿勢を制御し、
前記収差補正手段によって前記第 2の光学系のコマ収差を補正する
ことを特徴とする光ピックアップ装置の制御方法。
14.前記収差補正手段は、液晶補正素子であり、前記液晶補正素子に電圧を印加 して屈折率を制御してコマ収差を補正することを特徴とする請求の範囲第 13項記載 の光ピックアップ装置の制御方法。
