  • the plates are then analysed to determine the amount of corrosion by classifying the degree of corrosion on a scale of 1 to 5 summarised in Table 1: Table 1
  • the lubricating composition of the invention with a sulphated ash content of 0.8 wt % or less has improved corrosion inhibition without adversely affecting antiwear performance over a similar composition containing a sulphated ash content of above 1 wt %.
  • the invention provides a lubricating composition with corrosion inhibition and antiwear performance in a low sulphated ash engine lubricant.
  • hydrocarbyl substituent or “hydrocarbyl group” is used in its ordinary sense, which is well-known to those skilled in the art. Specifically, it refers to a group having a carbon atom directly attached to the remainder of the molecule and having predominantly hydrocarbon character.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne une composition lubrifiante contenant (a) une huile de viscosité lubrifiante, (b) un inhibiteur de la corrosion et (c) un agent anti-usure qui renferme au moins un élément parmi (i) un alcool polyhydrique avec des groupes d'oxyalkylène, (ii) un amine gras ou (iii) des mélanges correspondants, ladite composition lubrifiante possédant un contenu de cendres sulfatées total inférieur à 0,8 % en poids. Cette invention a aussi pour objet l'utilisation de la composition lubrifiante dans un moteur de combustion interne.
