L'importance et la séquence des courses de levage, des profils de vitesses et de forces sont reprogrammables. L'invention vise également à obtenir pour une construction la plus compacte possible, un encombrement en hauteur bas de la pièce de tête du système d'entraînement de la presse. Pour des presses de formage à plusieurs points de pression, on doit avoir la possibilité d'une régulation de basculement du coulisseau. La solution selon l'invention réunit les avantages des presses hydrauliques en termes de reprogrammation des profils de courses, de vitesses et de forces et les avantages des presses mécaniques en termes de productivité, de rigidité élevées et de reproductibilité, liée à la course, du point d'inversion inférieur. Selon l'invention, au moins un mécanisme d'entraînement électrique comme un servomoteur se présentant sous la forme d'un entraînement direct ou doté d'un convertisseur linéaire aval agit sur un levier genouillère à cinq points de manière à permettre non seulement la reprogrammabilité de profils courses, de vitesses et de forces mais aussi une utilisation flexible de séquences de mouvements liées à la course et/ou à la force.
