Abstract

Verfahren zur Oberflächenmodifizierung von Partikeln aus oxidischen Verbindungen von Metallen und/oder Halbmetallen M, auf deren Oberfläche M-O.H - Gruppen vorliegen und die als Metall- oder Halbmetall M nicht ausschliesslich Silicium enthalten, wobei man die Partikel mit Silicium-Halogen-Verbindungen unter solchen Bedingungen in Kontakt bringt, dass die M-O-H - Gruppen mit den Silicium-Halogen-Verbindungen reagieren, sowie derart erhältliche oberflächenmodifizierte Partikel. Um (zusätzliche)M-O - Gruppen an der Oberfläche zu erzeugen, können die Partikel zuvor mit einer starken Säure behandelt werden. In einem Folgeschritt können die oberflächlichen Si-Halogen-Gruppen mit entsprechend reaktiven Verbindungen umgesetzt werden, um weiter modifizierte Partikel zu erhalten. Erfindungsgemässe Partikel können auch dadurch charakterisiert sein, dass sie -Si-OH - Gruppen, -Si-X - Gruppen (X = Halogen) und/oder -Si-Y - Gruppen (Y = organischer Rest) in einer Dichte von mindestens (2) derartiger Gruppen pro nm2 Oberfläche tragen und/oder dass pro nm2 Oberfläche mindestens (4) Kohlenstoffatome der organischen Reste Y vorliegen. Daneben betrifft die Erfindung die Verwendung derartiger Partikel als dispergierte Komponente in unterschiedlichen Materialien zu unterschiedlichen Zwecken sowie jedes Material, das verteilte erfindungsgemässe Partikel enthält.
