If test step 43 provides a negative result (i.e. provides in a "NO"), the device 1 will allow a user to call a desired number.
  • the desired number is called by the conventional method of activating a call button on the keypad 6b when the device 1 is in the opened position at a call as normal step 44, the method 40 then ends.

  • a detecting step 45 provides for detecting when the housing 21 is moved from the closed position to provide the outgoing call request signal CRS thereby initiating an outgoing communication call, through the transceiver 8 of the device 1, the outgoing communication call being directed by the call destination number.
  • the detecting step 45 includes a test step 46 that determines if the housing 21 moves towards, or has moved to, the opened position.
  • This test step 46 uses the position detector 19 to determine if the housing 21 has moved to the opened position (where the protrusion 24 co-acts with detector 19) . Alternatively, if detector 26 is used then detection of movement of the housing from the closed position is possible as a test at step 46. If the housing remains closed then a call cancelled test 47 results where the processor 3 terminates the method 40 if the user cancels the call destination number by selection of one or more appropriate keys on keypad 5b. Otherwise, the method 40 returns to test step 46. If test step 46 detects the housing 21 has moved to, or towards, the opened position then a call the destination number step 48 is effected to automatically call the destination number without the user having to press a call button on inner interface 6a. The method 40 then ends at the end step 49.
  • the present invention provides for allowing a user to dial or select a call destination number, the number being automatically dialled when the housing is moved from the closed to the opened position.
  • the call destination number is typically selected by use of the Telephone Number Database TND, or simply keying in the number, by appropriate use of the outer user interface 5a.
  • the invention provides alternative approach to dialling that does not require the device (e.g. telephone) to be opened before dialling a number and thereafter pressing a dial button.

Abstract

L'invention concerne une méthode (40) de communication radio et un dispositif (1) de communication radio fermable, pour effectuer un appel de communication sortant, vers l'extérieur. Le dispositif (1) comprend un boîtier (21) présentant au moins deux parties (22, 23) montées mobiles l'une par rapport à l'autre, pour permettre un déplacement relatif de ces parties entre une position fermée et une position ouverte. La méthode (40) consiste à recevoir (42) un numéro de destination d'appel de communication sortant, sélectionné au niveau d'une interface d'utilisateur (5a) du dispositif (1). Ensuite, une étape de détection (45) permet de détecter le moment où le boîtier (21) est déplacé pour se retirer de la position fermée, pour fournir un signal de demande d'appel sortant, ce qui permet d'effectuer un appel de communication sortant, au moyen d'un émetteur-récepteur (8) du dispositif, l'appel de communication sortant étant dirigé par le numéro de destination d'appel.
