Abstract

Procédé Bayer de production de trihydrate d'aluminium comportant: a) une étape de broyage (B) de la bauxite (10); b) une étape d'attaque (A) de ladite bauxite par une liqueur d'aluminate de sodium; c) une étape de séparation liquide-solide (C et F); d) une étape de décomposition (D) de la dite liqueur d'aluminate sursaturée; e) après séparation du trihydrate d'alumine précipité (30), une étape de concentration (E) par évaporation de ladite liqueur d'aluminate de sodium pour la recycler en tant que liqueur d'attaque ledit procédé étant caractérisé en ce qu'on introduit dans ladite liqueur d'aluminate de sodium un composé à base de calcium (11, 111, 11', 111') appartenant au groupe des aluminates tricalciques, l'introduction dudit composé à base de calcium étant effectuée dans ladite liqueur d'aluminate de sodium entre sa sortie de la chaîne de décomposition et son mélange avec la bauxite broyée, en amont d'un échangeur de chaleur.
