Definitions

  • the present invention relates to an operating device with the features that are listed in the preamble of claim 1.
  • WO 02/39200 A1 discloses a method which projects virtual control elements into the operator's area of action, detects the movement of the operator in the direction of the respective virtual control element without contact, and switches a function assigned to the virtual control element after the movement the operator is recognized as a switching or operating intention.
  • This method requires a high level of construction for the projection and for the detection of the movement relative to the virtual operating elements Expenditure.
  • no haptic feedback and therefore no blind operation is possible.
  • the object of the invention is to provide an operating device of the type mentioned at the outset which enables comfortable or fast control of at least individual functions.
  • control elements are provided for the individual functions, but that on the other hand it is not necessary to actuate the control element in order to obtain information about their function. Rather, it is sufficient if the body part which actuates the control element is in its vicinity and a clear intention to actuate can be derived from the position of the body part and / or the movement of the body part towards the control element. If there are no doubts that one control element (and thus the function controlled with it) is likely to be actuated, this function is explained on the screen. This is preferably done in the manner of a help text, as happens, for example, in a similar form on a PC when the cursor is on the icon provided for a function.
  • the screen display can change as the operator approaches the control element.
  • the display can be used to provide orientation, for example in the form of a keyword-like description of the function. As the approach continues, the information can then be detailed.
  • a very special advantage of the invention consists in the possibility of arranging the operating elements within the optimum gripping space in the vehicle and thus outside the optimal viewing area of the operator.
  • the "blind" palpation of the controls that is then required is converted into a safe process by the screen support.
  • control elements can be switch or touch contacts, the actuation of which can be used to set the respective function.

  • the finger 8 can touch the key or "hover" at a height of up to two centimeters above the relevant key (FIG. 2). If the finger is in the region of 2 cm above the key, the user receives visual feedback the display (CID)
  • This feedback can be designed from the simple display of the key number to a complex, pictorial preview of the key assignment, ie the function called when the key switch is actuated.
  • This essential property of the invention enables the user to receive information regarding the assignment or function of a push-button switch without activating this function.
  • the push button switch can then be operated as usual.
  • a suitable sensor system can be used to implement the invention.
  • the sensor 9 is positioned so that the area above the row of keys can be detected.

  • the key can either be touched or the finger "hovers" up to two centimeters high above the key.
  • an opto-reflex coupler is alternatively arranged in each of the buttons 1 to 7, which acts like a proximity sensor which is conventional per se. According to FIG. 4 can again be determined by a suitable algorithm, the key that is closest to the user's finger 8.
  • the invention enables a more efficient human-machine interaction, since the number of actions for reaching a goal can be reduced and the user can trigger certain system reactions without an actual action.
  • the functionality of conventional keys can be expanded so that system actions can be started without actually touching a key. These actions could be precursors to functions that are triggered by the actual key press ("self-explanatory control elements").
  • the self-explanatory keys allow blind operation by means of a row of keys, since the user is constantly informed about the key near which his finger is located. If the user does not hit his desired button right away, he can immediately find his desired button on the basis of the feedback.
  • the invention allows the combination of haptic and contactless interaction and thus enables intuitive, multimodal interaction, which opens up completely new possibilities for operating concepts opened.
