- the connector 36 is made in a single element by molding, generally made of plastic.
- the connector comprises two parallel vertical lateral cheeks 66 which are intended to be received without play, through the opening 52 of the back 42 of the main stirrup 38, between the two wings 40 of the main yoke 38, so as to position the connector 36 transversely relative to the main yoke 38 of the wiper blade 30.
- the two lateral flanges 66 are interconnected by a transverse body 68 which delimits a first cylindrical housing
- the first cylindrical housing 70 is open along its lower transverse generatrix, and the two cheeks 66 each comprise an opening 72 which extends vertically downwardly from the first housing 70 to the lower edge 66b of the cheek 66 associated.
- the longitudinal dimension of the first housing 70 is determined in such a way that the distance between its two longitudinal edges 70a is smaller than the outside diameter of the first articulation axis 54, the introduction of the first articulation axis 54 into the first housing 70 being made by elastic deformation of the body 68.
- the body 68 comprises a first front section 74 which defines the first housing 54, and a second upper rear section 76 which extends longitudinally horizontally behind the front section 74 of so that its upper face 76s is vertically arranged globally at the same height as the upper face 74s of the front section 74.

- the front cylindrical face 74a of the front section 74 is convex and is shaped so that when the connector 36 is received in the end 34 of the arm 32a, at least one transverse generatrix of the front cylindrical face 74a is in contact with the concave rear cylindrical face 58b of the intermediate branch 58 of the arm 32a.
- shapes 78 are arranged in relief on the inner longitudinal longitudinal faces 66i vis-à-vis side cheeks 66 to position vertically and transversely the connector 36 relative to the end 34 of the arm 32a.
- the raised shapes 78 comprise a rib 79 which extends longitudinally above the upper face 76s of the rear section of the body, and behind the upper face 74s of the front section 74 of the body 68.
- the two ribs 79 are of rectangular section, and their dimensions are determined so that the distance between their vertical longitudinal faces vis-à-vis is equal to the width L of the arm 32a of the first category the lowest, ie here 8mm.
- the upper branch 56 of the U-shaped hook rests on the upper horizontal longitudinal faces of the two ribs 79 when the width L of the arm 32a is the largest. high, and the upper branch 56 of the U-hook bears on the upper face 76s of the rear section when the width L of the arm is the lowest.
- the raised shapes 78 also comprise, as shown in FIG. 4, at least one boss 1 10 which makes it possible, depending on the size of the arm 32a, to position the vertical or transverse positioning of the lower branch 60 of the U-shaped hook
- each flange 66 extends longitudinally in front of the body 68 and has on its face longitudinal internal longitudinal 66i, a stop 80 forming a ramp whose dimensions are determined so that the distance "d" separating the inner end of the two ramps 80 is less than the width L of the arm 32a the weakest.
- Each stop 80 consists of a portion of the front end portion 66a of the cheek 66 which extends cantilevered forward of the body 68, which is deformed inwardly of the connector 36, in the manner of a V".
- the stop 80 retains a thickness identical to that of the associated cheek 66. This is a important advantage when the connector 36 is made by molding because the stop 80 has no extra thickness that could affect its strength.
- the stop 80 extends over the upper part of the front section 66a of the associated cheek 66, and the lower part of the front section 66a of the cheek 66 has a recess 81.
- each cheek 66 which extends cantilevered forward of the body 68 is elastically deformable, so that upon insertion of the U-shaped hook around the body 68 of the connector 36, the front sections 66a of the two cheeks 66 are elastically deformed by moving away from one another, and when the U-shaped hook is in position mounted around the body 68 of the connector 36, the front sections 66a of the two cheeks 66 return elastically in their original form.
- the ramp stops 80 realize the longitudinal locking of the U-shaped hook mounted around the body
- the ramp stops 80 are arranged longitudinally on the inner faces 66i of the flanges 66 so that when the U-shaped hook is in position mounted around the body 68 of the connector 36, the front face 58a of the branch intermediate 58 curve of the U-hook bears against the rear face 80b of each stop 80, regardless of the size of the arm 32a.
- the body 68 of the connector 36 defines a second housing 84 of axis transversal inside which the second axis 62 can be introduced transversely.
- the second housing 84 of the body 68 is delimited in part by the lower face 76i of the upper rear portion 76 of the body 68 which has a concave portion 85, and is also delimited in part by a lower tongue 86 which extends longitudinally towards the rear of the front section 74 of the body 68, vis-à-vis the upper rear portion 76 of the body 36, the upper face 86s has a concave portion 88 vis-à-vis the concave portion 85 of the rear upper section 76.
- the lower tongue 86 is elastically deformable so as to retract to allow the introduction of the second axis 62 into the second housing 84, and when the second axis 62 is mounted in the second housing 84, it is able to exert a blocking force which tends to support the second axis 62 against the lower face 76i of the rear upper section 76 of the body 68.
- the connector 36 comprises a locking element which is adapted to be partially received in the peripheral groove 64 of the second axis 62 when the latter is in position climb into the second housing.
- the locking element consists of an upper tongue 90 which is also elastically deformable and which extends longitudinally forwards from the longitudinal end of the section rear upper 76 of the body 68 of the connector 36, and according to a preferred embodiment, the front longitudinal end 90a of the upper tab 90 is arranged longitudinally rearward of the front portion 74 of the body 36.
- the upper tab 90 is elastically deformable of so as to retract upwards to allow the introduction of a second axis 62 and so as to be housed without play in the peripheral groove 64 of the second axis 62 to effect the transverse locking of the second axis 62, in combination with the lower tab 86.
- the transverse width of the upper tongue 90 is complementary to the width of the annular groove 64 of the second axis 62.
- the longitudinal end 90a of the upper tongue 90 has two lateral pins 92 arranged on both sides. other of the upper tongue 90 and which extend transversely outwardly of the connector 36 through an associated opening 82 of each cheek 66 of the connector 36 so that the free transverse end of each lateral pin 92 is flush with the face longitudinal external longitudinal 66e of the associated cheek 66.
- each lateral pin 92 abuts against the longitudinal vertical internal face.
- a wing 40 of the main yoke 42 of the wiper blade 30 thereby providing a transverse locking of the upper tongue 90.
- vibrations occur which are transmitted to the connector 36 and tend to oscillate the lower tab 86 and the upper tab 90. Due to the small dimensions of a second axis 62 of the first size, the depth of the groove 64 is relatively small.
- the oscillations of the upper tongue 90 can result in it emerging from the groove 64 of the second axis 62, at least temporarily, the second axis then being no longer locked transversely, which, in use, can cause disengagement of the blade 30 with the arm 32b.
- the front end 90a of the upper tongue 90 is connected to the side flanges 66 of the connector 36 via material films 94, which make it possible to limit or even prevent the oscillations of the upper tongue 90.
- the dimensions of these material films 94 are determined so that when a second axis 62 is introduced into the second housing 84, the upward deformation of the upper tongue 90 does not cause the material films 94 to break.
- the depth of the groove 64 is large enough that the oscillations of the upper tab 90 are not large enough to result in a separation of the blade 30 with the arm 32b.
- the material films 94 it is not necessary for the material films 94 to retain the upper tab 90, in the case where a second axis 62 of the second size is introduced into the second housing 84.
- the material films 94 have therefore broken when introducing such a second axis 62.
- the introduction of a second axis 62 of the second size in the second housing 84 does not cause the rupture of the material films 94, to cancel so as to prevent when even the oscillations of the upper tongue 90 in the presence of a second axis 62 of the second size.
- the connector 36 has a third generally cylindrical housing 96 of rectangular section complementary to the section of the arm 32c, longitudinal main axis and which is open in its rear face so that the end 34 of the arm 32c can be introduced longitudinally forwards.
- the third housing 96 is delimited by the front section 74, by the lower face 76i of the rear upper section 76 and by the upper face of a rear lower section 98 of the body 68 of the connector. 36.
- the third housing 96 is also delimited by the inner vertical longitudinal faces vis-a-vis 66i of the flanges 66 of the connector 36.
- the longitudinal locking of an arm 32c belonging to the third category of arms is carried out via the lug 65 which is received in a complementary orifice 100 made in the rear upper section 76.
- the connector 36 is designed with dimensional differences to allow mounting of the arm 32a, 32b, 32c without significant difficulties.
- the dimensional differences result in gaps between the connector 36 and the arm 32a, 32b, 32c which are the source, when the use of the windscreen wiper, vibration causing premature wear of the wiper blade 50, or unpleasant noises.
- a first embodiment of these means of catching games consists of a lower portion 86i of the lower tongue 86 which is bent downwards, so that when an arm 32a belonging to the first category of arms is in the assembled position of the body 68 of the connector 36, the lower tongue 86 exerts a downward force on the upper face 60s of the horizontal lower section 60 of the U-shaped hook.
- FIG. 8 shows another embodiment of the connector 36 in which positioning ribs 104 of the lower tongue 86, which extend vertically downward along each lateral edge of the lower tongue 86, allow to achieve the vertical and transverse positioning of the arm 32a of the third size.
- the distance between the positioning ribs 104 is equal to the width L of an arm of the third size, that is to say equal to 8 mm. Therefore, when an arm 32a of the third size is in the mounted position with the connector 36, the lower branch 60 of the U-shaped hook is received between the positioning ribs 104, and the upper face 60s bears against the face lower 86i of the lower tongue 86.
- positioning ribs 104 can also be used for catching up games for mounting arms 32a of certain sizes.
- the means of catching up games are made by means of the upper tongue 90 which is also elastically deformable.
- the longitudinal end 90a before the upper tab 90 is bent downwards so that when introducing an arm 32c belonging to the third category of arms within the third housing 96 of the body 68 causes deformation towards the top of the upper tab 90 relatively large, so as to cause the rupture of the material films 94.
- the upper tongue 90 is thus elastically deformed upwards and its free front end 90a exerts an elastic return force on the upper face 34s of the end 34 of the arm 32c.
- the upward deformation of the upper tongue 90 is limited by the fact that the lateral pins 92 abut vertically upward against an upper edge 82a of the opening 82.
- the upper tongue 90 exerts a return force oriented globally downward on the upper face 34s of the end 34 of the arm 32c, thus making it possible to make up games between the connector 36 and an arm 32c belonging to the third category of arms, and prevent pivoting of the arm 32c with respect to the connector 36.
- the upper tongue 90 is able to deform upwards.
- the openings 82 of the cheeks 66 which are traversed by the pins 92 of the upper tongue 90, extend vertically so as to allow a vertical movement upwards and downwards of the pins 92 during the introduction of the end 54 of an arm 32b, 32c.
- the openings 82 of the cheeks 66 are dimensioned so that the pins 92 the upper tab 90 come vertically abutting upwardly against the respective upper edges 82a of the associated opening 82.
- the deformations of the upper tab 90 remain below the elastic limit of the material, which allows the use of the connector 36 to connect the arm 32c to a new broom 30.
- the connector 36 is intended to be housed between the wings 40 of the main yoke 38 of the blade 30.
- the back 42 of the main yoke 38 is generally arranged vertically above the third housing 96 of the connector 36, then interfere with the introduction of a 32c arm of the third category.
- the main axis of the third axis 96 is inclined relative to the main axis of the connector 36, so that the vertical dimension of the front end of the third housing is greater than that of the rear end.
- the third housing 96 is then remote from the first axis A of a certain value "m" which is greater than the distance between the upper back 42 of the main stirrup 39 of the blade relative to the first axis A.
- the third housing 96 is then delimited by the lower face of the upper rear section and the upper face. the lower rear section, and an edge of the front section against which a lower face of the end of the arm rests.
- each cheek 66 extends vertically over a large distance.
- the stiffness of the upper tongue 90 must be reduced.
- the upper tongue is thus able to deform more easily in case of vibrations, the risk of the groove 64 leaving a second axis
- the material films 94 do not break when introducing a second axis 62 of the first size, nor a second axis 62 of the second size.
- each cheek 66 of the connector 36 has been described as each having two openings 82 which are traversed respectively by the second axis 62 of an arm 32b belonging to the second category of arms, and by a lateral pin 92 of the upper tongue 90. It will be understood that each cheek 66 may comprise only one opening 82 which consists of the meeting of the openings described above.
- the second axis 62 pivots in the second housing 84.
- the second axis 62 of the second size is of large dimensions, its peripheral surface is therefore also important. Thus, during its movement in the second housing 84, the friction between the second axis 62 and the associated walls of the connector 36 cause significant wear of these associated walls.
- This wear is the source of important games between the second axis 62 and the connector 36 which can cause a output of the locking element out of the groove 64 of the second axis 62 and thus a separation of the arm 32b and the blade 30.
- the contact surfaces between the connector 36 and a second axis 62 of the second size are larger than the surfaces. contact between the connector 36 and a second axis 62 of the first size. According to a first embodiment of this variant, the contact surfaces are increased at the lower tongue 86.
- the upper face 86s of the lower tongue 86 is convex and is complementary to the outer cylindrical surface of the second axis 62.
- the lower tongue 86 comprises two bosses 102 which extend transversely outwardly of the connector 36 from the transverse edge of the lower tongue 86, and so that their free transverse end is flush with the outer vertical longitudinal face 66e of the associated cheek 66.
- the bosses 102 are bent so that their upper face 102s is also complementary to the outer cylindrical surface of the second axis 62.
- Another contact surface between the second axis 62 and the connector 36 is located at an upper edge 82s of the opening 82 of each cheek 66.
- the upper edge 82s of each opening 82 against which the second axis 62 is supported is also bent so as to be complementary to the outer cylindrical surface of the second axis 62.
- the lateral pins 92 of the upper tongue 90 also comprise a bearing surface 92a against the outer cylindrical surface of a second axis 62 of the second size which is complementary to the outer cylindrical surface of the second axis 62.
- each cheek 66 is therefore delimited by several edges which each have a utility for the operation of the connector 36. These edges consist of:
- a second upper edge 82s located at the rear of the opening 82 and at a vertical dimension relative to the connector
- This second edge is bent to form a complementary surface to the outer cylindrical surface of a second axis 62 of the second size, to limit the wear of the connector 36;
- a connector 36 allows a user to connect a brush 30 to a drive arm 32a, 32b, 32c, without having to wonder if the connector is actually adapted to the type of arm.
- this connector 36 Since this connector 36 is indifferent to the type of arm, it can then be mounted on the blade 30 before delivery. Mounting the connector 36 with the blade 30 requires means for its gripping by an operating element. These gripping means comprise on the one hand the orifice 100 which is able to receive a centering finger (not shown) of the operating element, and on the other hand comprises a groove 106 made in each cheek 66, which extends vertically downwards from the upper edge of the cheek 66. To allow manipulation of the connector 36, the groove 106 has the shape of an inverted "T", that is to say that the horizontal branch of the "T" is located below the vertical branch. Each groove 106 is adapted to receive a second finger (not shown) of complementary shape for the manipulation of the connector 36.
- each groove 106 is arranged longitudinally so that its vertical transverse plane of symmetry is at the same longitudinal dimension as the transverse axis A.
- each groove 106 is flush with the upper face 74s of the front element 74 of the body 68, which allows to exercise an insertion force on a larger horizontal surface.
- each groove 106 extends above the upper face 74s of the front element 74 of the body 68.
- the associated rib 79 may extend longitudinally forwards to the front end of the front section 74 of the body 68, thereby making it possible to increase the support surface of the upper branch 56 of the U-shaped hook.
- the separation of an arm 32a, 32c of the first or third category is effected by a longitudinal movement towards the front, respectively towards the rear of the connector 36.
- the upper tab 90 opposes any transverse movement of the arm 32c relative to the connector 36, it is necessary to release the second tongue 90 of the groove 64 of the second axis 62, before making a transverse movement of the arm 32c by relative to the connector 36.
- the second axis 62 being stationary, it prevents the lower tongue 86 from lifting upwards.
- the upper tab 90 is not prevented from lifting, it can therefore leave the groove 64.
- the pivoting of the connector 36 is sufficient for the upper tab 90 to be completely out of the groove 64, it is possible to remove the second axis 62 by a transverse movement of the arm 32c.
- the pivoting of the connector 36 is obtained by acting on the lower edge 66b of the wings 66.
- the connector 36 is a small element, it can sometimes be relatively complex to perform this maneuver because the wings 66 are sometimes difficult to access.
- the connector 36 shown in Figure 15, it comprises a cross member 108 which connects the two wings 66, at their rear lower end, which serves as a maneuver element to pivot the connector 36.
- the lower tongue 86 may extend longitudinally forwards from the rear lower section 98.
- the upper tongue 90 may extend longitudinally rearwards from the front section 74 without departing from the technical field. of the invention.
- a connector 36 has been described as making it possible to connect a wiper arm 32a, 32b, 32c to a wiper blade 30 comprising an articulated structure, it will be understood that a connector 36 according to the invention can also connect an arm 32a, 32b, 32c to a broom 30 whose articulated structure is replaced by vertebrae, also called "flat-blade".
