- the present invention relates to an arc welder with a built-in gas alternation provision apparatus which supplies alternately the inert gas to a torch and supplies the power for discharging between the torch and the base metal, and more particularly to an arc welder with a built-in gas alternation provision apparatus in which a gas alternation provision apparatus and a welding power supply apparatus are contained together.
- an arc welding is a method that applies the welding power between an electrode rod of the torch and the welding base metal to generate the arc under ambient of inert gas such as argon, helium or the like, so that welding portion is filled with the melted electrode rod.

- an external gas alternation provision apparatus comprises, as shown in Fig. 1, an inert gas alternation provision apparatus 10 for periodically supplying the different inert gases such as argon, helium or the like alternately to the torch 7 via a gas feeding conduit 43, a core wire feeding device 5 for feeding a wire to the torch 7 via a wire feeding conduit 6, and a welding power supply apparatus 1 for supplying the welding power which generate the arc discharge between the wire of the torch 7 and the base metal 80.

- the inert gas alternation provision apparatus 41 comprises a gas alternation mixer for discharging two inert gases alternately and a control device (not shown) for controlling the gas supply amount and the gas supply ratio of the gas alternation mixer. As shown in Fig.
- the gas alternation mixer 160 is provided with solenoids 161, 161' at the left and right periphery of a tube member 167, and gas inlet tube 162, 162' at opposite ends of the tube member 167.
- the gas alternation mixer 160 is further provided with a gas- switching element 164 which moves within the tube member 167 in an axial direction thereof in response to the magnetic force generated by the solenoid 161.
- a gas outlet tube 163 is formed vertically at a side of the middle of the tube member 167 to supply gas to the torch 7.
- the control device comprises a key input unit for setting gas amount, gas alternation provision ratio and the like, a control circuit for outputting the control signal corresponding the gas amount and the gas alternation provision ratio set by the key input unit, a power supply unit for supplying the driving power to the solenoids 161, 161' in response to the control signal output from the control circuit, and a display unit for displaying the state of the inert gas alternation provision apparatus.
- the welding power supply apparatus 1 generates the DC driving power to be applied between the torch 7 and the base metal 80, and comprises a key input unit for setting the driving power to be applied and a display unit for displaying the state of power at the outside of a case, respectively.
