Definitions
- the present invention relates to a device for connecting road equipment, such as a drain, to a fixed vertical tube for discharging runoff water.
- road equipment such as a drain
- the devices known until now for connecting road equipment to a vertical storm water evacuation tube are not only complex to install, but in addition pose problems of adjusting the position of road equipment relative to a curb or gutter in which it must be sealed.
- the object of the present invention is to eliminate the drawbacks of these known devices by proposing a device for connection to a fixed vertical tube for discharging runoff water, from road equipment, such as a drain, to be integrated into a curb or a gutter, and which is characterized in that it comprises a rigid intermediate adapter plate with central evacuation opening, secured to a cylindrical drum extending transversely under the plate coaxially with the opening and capable of sealingly engaging in or around the vertical tube at an adjustable relative height, the adapter plate being orientable relative to the curb or the gutter by rotation of the barrel in the tube vertical or around it, and in that the road equipment is mounted sliding bilaterally guided in translation on the adapter plate towards the edge of tr sidewalk or gutter, thereby allowing the road equipment to be brought to a final determined position relative to the curb or the gutter before sealing the road equipment to the latter or the latter.
- the adapter plate is rectangular in shape and the means for guiding in translation of the road equipment on this plate comprise two flanges
- An elastomer seal is interposed between the barrel of the adapter plate and the vertical evacuation tube.
- the seal is integral with the free end of the vertical tube by covering it and has a sealing lip interposed between the barrel and the vertical evacuation tube.
- the seal can be secured to the free end of this barrel by covering it and has a sealing lip interposed between the drum and the vertical evacuation tube.
- the central opening of the adapter plate is tapered to form a funnel for evacuating runoff water.
- a sludge recovery basket is housed in the barrel of the adapter plate and retained in abutment on the frustoconical central opening of this plate.
- each piece forming a slide consists of a curved plate having a U-shaped cross section, one of the branches of which is fixed to the adapter plate in the same plane as the latter and the other branch of which extends parallel to the - above this plate.
- FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view showing the device of one invention for connecting equipment road network with a fixed vertical drainage pipe;
- FIG. 2 is a perspective view of the roadway equipment of Figure 1 in the final position before it is sealed to a curb;
- FIG. 3 is an exploded perspective view of an adapter plate of the connection device of one invention before mounting in the vertical evacuation tube;
- - Figure 4 is a perspective view similar to that of Figure 3 showing the adapter plate mounted in the discharge tube;
- - Figure 5 is a sectional view in the longitudinal vertical median plane of the assembly consisting of roadway equipment, the adapter plate and the vertical discharge tube arranged separately one above the other;
- - Figure 6 is a view similar to that of Figure 5 showing the adapter plate on which is mounted the road equipment and which is assembled to the discharge tube;
- FIG. 7 is a sectional view similar to that of Figure 6 and showing an embodiment according to which the adapter plate is mounted around the discharge tube;
- FIG. 8 is a partial sectional view of an alternative embodiment of Figure 7.
- the invention will be described with reference to a gully device to be integrated into a curb after its connection to a drainage tube runoff, but it is understood that it can also be applied to any other type of road equipment, such as a rectangular grid for discharging runoff, to be integrated into other elements than a curb, such as for example a gutter.
- the reference 1 designates a drain device, known per se, and intended to be integrated into a chamfered edge B of the sidewalk.
- This gully device is of the type comprising a generally rectangular frame 2 comprising in the upper part an articulated pad 3 normally locked to the frame 2 by being provided with at least one window 4 for the passage of runoff water and in the lower part a grid 5 for passage runoff articulated to frame 2 while being normally locked to it.
- the downstream device has, by its buffer 3 and its grid 5, a configuration in the form of a step allowing its integration into the curb edge B.
- the buffer 3 and the grid 5 can be unlocked and opened in the direction indicated by each of the arrows 0 in Figure 6 to access the inside of frame 2.
- the drain device 1 is connected to a vertical tube 6 for discharging runoff water entering the frame 2 towards the sewer with which this tube 6 communicates.
- the latter is installed in the ground or fixed relatively to it by any means medium suitable at a certain distance from the curb B and has its free external upper part located below the curb.
- the device for connecting the drain 1 to the discharge tube 6 comprises a rigid intermediate adapter plate 7 of rectangular shape comprising a frustoconical central opening 8 constituting a funnel for discharging runoff water and a cylindrical barrel 9 fixed under the adapter plate 7 extending perpendicular thereto and coaxially with the central opening 8.
- the barrel 9 can be fixed to the plate 7 by welding.
- the barrel 9 of the plate 7 can be engaged in a sealed manner in the cylindrical tube 6 as can be seen better from FIG. 6 at a relative height adjustable in the direction symbolized by the double arrow FI or be mounted in a sealed manner around the cylindrical tube 6 as shown in Figures 7 and 8 at a relative height adjustable in the direction also indicated by the double arrow FI.
- the seal between the cylindrical barrel 9 and the cylindrical tube 6 is ensured by an elastomeric seal 10.
- the seal 10 is mounted on the upper free end of the tube 6 by covering it.
- the seal 10 may comprise a substantially cylindrical outer skirt 11 which fits around the upper part of the tube 6.
- the seal 10 In the mounted position of the seal 10 on the tube 6 before fitting the barrel 9 into the tube 6, the seal 10 has at rest an annular internal lip approximately transverse to the longitudinal axis of the tube 6 as shown in FIG. 5.
- the lip 10 is folded down by the barrel 9 on the cylindrical internal face upper part of the tube 6 as shown in FIG. 6 to ensure the seal between the barrel 9 and the tube 6.
- the seal 10 is also fixed on the upper free end of the tube 6 by covering the latter with a substantially cylindrical skirt 11 surrounding the tube 6 and comprises an external lip constituting the seal itself of approximate annular shape. nt transverse to the longitudinal axis of the tube 6 before mounting the barrel 9 around this tube.
- the sealing lip 10 is folded down by the barrel 9 at a position substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the tube 6 to form a cylindrical seal between the barrel 9 and the tube 6.
- Figure 8 shows an alternative embodiment of Figure 7 in which the seal 10 is fixed to the the end of the barrel 9 by covering it and its annular sealing lip has been folded down on the internal face of the barrel 9 during its fitting into the tube 6.
- the adapter plate 7 can be manually operated to not only move it vertically relative to the tube 6 in the direction of the double arrow FI, but also to move it rotating around the vertical axis of the tube 6 as indicated by the double arrow F2 in Figures 6 and 7 so as to adjust in height and angularly orient the adapter plate 7 relative to the curb edge B.
- the drain 1 can be mounted sliding bilaterally guided in translation on the adapter plate 7 in the direction of the curb edge B as symbolized by the double arrow F3 in Figures 6 and 7 to allow the drain 1 to be brought to a final definite position relative to the curb edge B by a combination of displacements according to the arrows FI to F3 before sealing the drain 1 at this border.
- the means for guiding in translation of the drain 1 on the adapter plate 7 comprise two elongated lateral flanges 12 secured to the lower part of the frame 2 of the drain 1 and at least two pieces forming slides 13 secured respectively to the two sides of the adapter plate 7 so that the two lateral flanges 12 can slide in the two pieces forming slides 13.
- each side of the adapter plate 7 comprises two pieces forming slides spaced along this side.
- Each piece forming a slide can consist of a plate curved so as to present in cross-section a U-shape, one of the branches of which is integral with the plate 7, extending substantially in the same plane as the latter and the opposite branch is arranged parallel above the plate 7.
- each piece forming a slide can have a different configuration, for example at an angle, one of the branches of which would be integral with the plate 7 perpendicularly to the latter and the other branch of which would extend parallel above the plate 7.
- the adapter plate 7 can support a basket 14 for collecting sludge housed in the drum 9 and retained in this drum by its frustoconical upper rim bearing on the frustoconical opening of conjugate shape 8 of plate 7.
- connection of the drain 1 to the discharge tube 6 can be carried out as follows.
- the operator grasps the adapter plate 7 to position the cylindrical barrel 9 above the discharge tube 6 and engage it in the latter as shown in Figures 3 and 4, which allows him to position the drum 9 and therefore the plate 7 at a relative height taking into account the height position that the plate 7 must have relative to the curb B, this plate can also be rotated relative to the tube 6 to position it according to a direction substantially transverse to the border B.
- the operator grasps the drain 1 to place it on the plate 7 by introducing its lateral flanges 12 into their respective guide slides 13 and allow guided sliding of the drain 1 on the plate 7 in a direction substantially transverse to the sidewalk edge B until the drain 1 is brought to its final position where it can be sealed in the curb B by the usual sealing techniques.
- the plate 7, once correctly positioned relative to the curb edge B, can be sealed relative thereto before introducing the drain 1 on the plate 7 to position it relative to the border B and seal it to the latter.
- connection of the drain 1 can also be carried out by fitting the latter in a guided manner on the plate 7 and placing this assembly on the discharge tube 6 by introducing the barrel 9 into the latter, if it is possible to position this assembly precisely in a single step relative to the curb edge B before sealing this assembly.
- connection device described above of the invention is of an extremely simple structure and makes it possible to precisely and quickly position the drain 1 before it is sealed in the sidewalk edge B.
- the possibility of height adjustment according to the arrow FI of the barrel 9 relative to this tube can extend over about 150 mm and the extent of adjustment of the position of the outlet 1 on the plate 7 in the double direction F3 can be 100 mm, that is to say that the drain 1 can occupy a rear position located to the left of FIG. 6 or 7 at most 50 mm relative to the longitudinal axis of the tube 6 and a front position located to the right of this figure at most 50 mm from this longitudinal axis.
- connection device of the invention allows very wide adjustment possibilities to adapt to all the configurations of location of the evacuation tube 6 relative to the curb edge B.
- the drain is usually made cast iron, it can be made of any other material, such as a rigid plastic material just like the plate adapter 7 and its barrel 9. In this case, the assembly constituted by the plate 7, the barrel 9 and the slides 13 will be produced in one piece by molding.
