- a generic method is known from DE 201 06 478 Ul. If accident sensors detect or expect an accident with a pedestrian, the hood is raised to a certain extent by a hood drive. This creates more deformation space for the bonnet, which improves the pedestrian protection. The lifting takes place by means of an energy store, e.g. a spring.
