METHOD OF SERVICE FOR ORDER/RESERVATION
Technical Field
The present invention relates to a method of service for order/reservation and, more particularly, to the method of service for order/reservation that identifies the caller's identification (or phone) number of a customer who makes order/reservation by phone (wire or wireless), promptly generates order/reservation confirmation information using the customer information previously stored, and transmits a short message or wireless internet e-mail for confirmation to the customer's mobile terminal, thereby minimizing dishonor or error in order/reservation.
Background Art
In these present days, culture of order/reservation that a customer orders goods he/she wants to purchase by phone or other communication means or makes reservation in advance in order to use a hotel or a restaurant becomes popularized. Furthermore, this order/reservation culture is being extended to almost all fields, regardless of the type of goods. However, since there is no means capable of systematically promptly processing a procedure for order/ reservation, the procedure is difficult to manage effectively, thus dishonor or error in order/reservation cannot be prevented.
Disclosure of Invention
An object of the present invention is to provide to a method of service for order/reservation that identifies the caller's identification number of a customer who makes order/reservation by phone, promptly generates order/ reservation confirmation information using the customer information previously stored, and transmits a short message or wireless internet e-mail for confirmation to the customer's mobile terminal, thereby minimizing dishonor or error in order/reservation.
To accomplish the object of the present invention, there is provided a method of services for order/reservation, comprising a first step in which an order/reservation system provides order/reservation services using the caller's identification number of
a phone by which a customer makes order/reservation and customer information that is linked to the caller's identification number receiving the caller's identification number from a phone exchange center when the customer makes a phone call and transmitting the received caller's identification number to the customer information center; a second step of receiving the customer information linked to the caller's identification number from the customer information center and displaying it; and a third step of generating order/reservation confirmation information according to a predetermined form from order/reservation items and the customer information when the customer requests an order/reservation. The first and second steps may receive the linked customer information from the customer information center receiving the caller's identification number through the phone exchange center when the customer makes a phone call, and display the received customer information.
The order/reservation service method may store and manage the customer information of a customer who made order/reservation previously at least once in a local storage unit. When the customer makes a phone call, the method can directly search the local storage unit for the customer information to display it without passing through the customer information center.
The order/reservation service method further comprises a fourth step of generating a short message or a wireless internet e-mail with respect to the generated order/reservation confirmation information and transmitting it together with the acknowledgement/cancellation/change menu previously prepared to the customer's mobile terminal
The method of service for order/reservation further comprises a fifth step of storing or outputting the order/reservation confirmation information when the customer who received the short message or wireless internet e-mail with respect to the order/reservation confirmation information selects the acknowledgement menu; when the customer selects the cancellation menu, if there exists a standby customer of the next preference requesting the same order/reservation, transmitting a short message or a wireless internet e-mail with respect to the order/reservation confirmation information and acknowledgement/cancellation/change menu to the
standby customer's mobile terminal; deleting the order/reservation confirmation information if there is no standby customer; when the customer selects the change menu, searching the same order/information confirmation information, previously stored, as changed items, and transmitting a message informing the customer that change is not allowed, in case that it is found; and generating order/reservation confirmation information on which the changed items are reflected, in case that it is not found.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
The present invention will now be described in detail in connection with preferred embodiments with reference to the accompanying drawings.
FIG. 1 shows a preferred first order/reservation service network according to the present invention. Referring to FIG. 1, the order/reservation service network is constructed in such a manner that a customer's phone 10, a phone exchange center 20, an order/reservation service provider's phone 30, an order/reservation system 40 and a customer information center 50 are serially connected, and a customer's mobile terminal 60 is connected to the order/reservation system 40.
When a customer calls an order/reservation service provider in order to make order/reservation, the phone exchange center 20 connects the customer's phone 10 to the order/reservation service provider's phone 30 and provides the caller's
identification number. The order/reservation system 40 systematically processes services pursuant to the order/reservation using the caller's identification number received from the exchange center 20, which will be explained below in detail with reference to FIG. 3. The customer information center 50 is connected to the order/reservation system 40 through the internet, and it stores and manages the customer's name, phone (or identification) number, address and order/reservation records. When the customer information center 50 receives the caller's identification number from the order/reservation system 40, it detects the customer information linked to the caller's identification number, and provides it to the order/reservation system.
The order/reservation system generates order/reservation confirmation information to allow the customer to confirm ordered or reserved items, and creates a short message or a wireless internet e-mail to transmit it to the customer's mobile terminal 60. The customer's mobile terminal 60 includes a personal cellular phone, a PDA, and a terminal capable of receiving short messages or wireless internet e-mails such as IMT-2000.
FIG. 2 illustrates a preferred second order/reservation service network according to the present invention. Referring to FIG. 2, the order/reservation service network is constructed in such a manner that the customer's phone 10, phone exchange center 20, customer information center 50, order/reservation service provider's phone 30 and order/reservation system 40 are serially connected and the customer's mobile terminal 60 is connected to the order/reservation system 40. Accordingly, when a customer calls the order/reservation service provider, the order/reservation system 40 can directly receive the customer information of the linked caller from the customer information center 50.
The networks of FIGS. 1 and 2 are shown only for convenience of explanation, and a plurality of various order/reservation systems can be connected to the customer information center 50 through the internet.
FIG. 3 illustrates the configuration of a preferred order/reservation system according to the present invention. The order/reservation system 40 according to the present invention includes a caller identification unit 41, a local storage unit 45, a
menu information storage unit 46, an order/reservation information storage unit 47, an input unit 42, an output unit 44, and a main controller 48.
First of all, a procedure that the order/reservation service provider accepts an order/reservation is briefly explained. When a customer (caller) calls the order/reservation service provider, it is received by the service provider's phone 30, and the customer information, such as the customer's name, phone number, address and order/reservation records, is automatically identified and displayed on a monitor 43 of the order/reservation system 40 of the service provider.
Then, the order/reservation service provider can immediately grasp the customer information of the customer who makes the phone call for order/reservation. The order/reservation service provider selects menu displayed on the screen of the monitor 43 with a mouse 42-2 to accept the order/reservation of the customer while speaking with the customer through the phone 30 thereof. Upon the receipt of order/reservation, the order/reservation system generates an order/reservation confirmation information on the basis of the order/reservation received and customer information. Subsequently, it creates a short message or a wireless internet e-mail confirming the order/reservation, and transmits it to the customer's mobile terminal 60.
The caller identification unit 41 is connected to an external phone line 25 and automatically detects the caller identification from an incoming call from the phone line. The caller identification unit 41 can be integrated with the order/reservation service provider's phone 30. Otherwise, it can be constructed in the form of an independently manufactured device or in the form of a card built in a computer.
The local storage unit 45, menu information storage unit 46 and order/reservation information storage unit 47 store a variety of data items. Specifically, the local storage unit stores the name, phone number, address and order/reservation records of a customer who made order/reservation at least once. The menu information storage unit 46 stores menu information of goods or services the order/reservation service provider deals with. Also, it stores menu information that is transmitted to the customer's mobile terminal 60 to perform functions of acknowledgement, cancellation or change. The order/reservation information storage
unit 47 stores order/reservation confirmation information, that is, order/reservation items by customers.
The above goods/services include not only a general type of goods/services but also various types of goods/services for which customers may make order/reservation. The menu information includes information in the form of texts or images for displaying menu and price information. The order/reservation items mean information related to order/reservation, such as the date and time each customer requests for order/reservation, kinds of menu, quantity, price or the like.
The input unit 42 is used for manually inputting customer information or selecting a menu. The customer information should be manually inputted when the corresponding customer makes order/reservation for the first time or the customer information is changed. Accordingly, the input unit 42, preferably, includes a keyboard 42-1 through which characters and digits can be inputted. In addition to the keyboard, the input unit may include a letters recognition device through which information is inputted in the form of letters and a voice recognition device through which information is inputted in the form of voice.
Furthermore, the input unit 42 includes a mouse 42-2 to easily input menu that customers want. The mouse 42-2 is also used for selecting various functions of the order/reservation system. A touch screen or a separate menu-plate keyboard may be used for the purpose of easily inputting menu that customers want.
The output unit 44 outputs the order/reservation confirmation information. Even the monitor being comprised in the order/reservation system is a part of the output unit, and the order/reservation confirmation information is displayed on the monitor screen. In addition, the output unit 44 prints a receipt or outputs statistical information such as sales volume by terms.
The main controller 48 checks if customer information is stored in the local storage unit 45 on the basis of the customer's phone number detected by the caller identification unit 41 and, when the customer information is not stored, transmits the customer's phone number to the customer information center 50, so as to receive the customer information searched therein. And, the main controller 48 allows the order/reservation service provider to select a menu from the menus stored in the menu
information storage unit 46 through the input unit 42, and then records the order/reservation items with respect to the caller in the order/reservation information storage unit 47.
In addition, the main controller generates order/reservation confirmation information according to a predetermined form from the customer information and order/reservation items, and creates a short message or a wireless internet e-mail to transmit it to the customer's mobile terminal 60. Accordingly, the order/reservation confirmation information may include customer's name, phone number, order/reservation items or the like. The main controller 48 performing the above-described functions can be constructed of a computer system in which a computer program executing the above functions is installed, such as a personal computer widely propagated or an electronic system including a mobile device corresponding thereto. Furthermore, the main controller 48 can be embodied in a POS (Point On Sale) system integrated with a phone and a monitor for convenience of utilization.
FIG. 4 is a first flow chart showing an order/reservation service method according to the present invention, in which the order/reservation system 40 provides order/reservation service using the caller's identification number of a customer who wants to make order/reservation and the customer information that is linked to the caller's identification number and stored in the customer information center 50.
Referring to FIG. 4, when a customer calls the order/reservation service provider at step SI 10, the order/reservation system 40 receives the caller's identification number provided by the phone exchange center 20 at step SI 20 and transmits the caller's identification number to the customer information center 50 at step SI 30. Then, the order/reservation system 40 receives the customer information linked to the caller's identification number, searched and transmitted from the customer information center 50, that is, the customer's name, phone number, address and order/reservation records at step SI 40 and displays the customer information at step SI 50. When the customer requests order/reservation, the system generates order/reservation confirmation information according to a predetermined form on the basis of the order/reservation items and customer information, and displays it at step
S160.
FIG. 5 is a second flow chart showing the order/reservation service method according to the present invention, which transmits the confirmation information according to order/reservation to the customer and allows the customer to confirm it so as to provide improved service to the customer. To provide this service preferably, in case where a customer makes order/ reservation, it is basically needed to transmit to the customer's mobile terminal a message of confirmation information checking acknowledgement/ cancellation/change of the order/reservation in advance.
Referring to FIG. 5, first, at step SI 70, in the case where the customer has his or her mobile terminal 60, the order/reservation system generates a short message or a wireless internet e-mail with respect to the order/reservation confirmation information. The program proceeds to step SI 80 in which the order/reservation system 40 transmits the generated short message or the wireless internet e-mail to the customer's mobile terminal together with a menu through which a function of acknowledging, canceling or changing the order/reservation confirmation information can be performed. This order/ reservation confirmation information can be transmitted right after receiving an order/reservation from the customer or at the time after a predetermined lapse of time from the order/reservation, preset in the system.
The customer may not select any one of the acknowledgement, cancellation or change menu even after seeing the order/reservation confirmation information. In such case, the system can be preset to acknowledge or cancel the order/reservation. Here, it is preferable that the preset information is included in the short message or wireless internet e-mail to be transmitted to the customer's mobile terminal 60.
In the meantime, at step SI 90, the main controller 48 of the order/reservation system determines which menu the customer selects among the acknowledgement/cancellation/change menu. If it is determined at step SI 90 that the customer confirms the short message or wireless internet e-mail and selects the acknowledgement menu, the program proceeds to step S200 where the main controller 48 stores the order/reservation confirmation information in the order/reservation information storage unit or outputs the order/reservation confirmation information. On the other hand, if it is determined at step SI 90 where
the customer selects the cancellation menu, the program proceeds to step S210 where the main controller 48 determines whether or not there exists a standby customer of the next preference who requests the same order/reservation items. If, at step S210, the standby customer exists, the program proceeds to step S212 where the main controller 48 transmits a short message or wireless internet e-mail with respect to the order/reservation confirmation information and the acknowledgement/ cancellation/change menu to the standby customer's mobile terminal, and returns to the step SI 90 to repeatedly perform the next steps. If, on the other hand, at step 210, there exists no standby customer, the program proceeds to step S211 where the main controller 48 deletes the order/reservation confirmation information.
If it is determined at step SI 90 that the customer selects the change menu at step SI 90, the program proceeds to step S220 where the main controller 48 searches the same order/reservation confirmation information as the changed items of information, previously stored. At step S221, the main controller 48 determines whether or not there exists the searched same order/reservation confirmation information. If it is determined at step S221 that there exists the searched same order/reservation confirmation information, the program proceeds to step S223 where the main controller 48 transmits a message informing that change is not allowed to the customer's mobile terminal 60. If, on the other hand, it is determined at step S221 that there exists no such order/reservation confirmation information, the program proceeds to step S222 where the main controller 48 generates order/reservation confirmation information on which the changed items are reflected, and stores it in the order/reservation information storage unit or outputs the generated order/reservation confirmation information through the output unit. In the meantime, the customer's order/reservation records included in the customer information can be managed in such a way that a short message or a wireless internet e-mail with respect to the records may be transmitted to the customer's mobile terminal 60, when the records are accumulated more than predetermined points. In the case where the order/reservation confirmation information is deleted at the step S211, it is preferable that the deleted information is temporarily displayed
simultaneously with the deletion so as to allow the order/reservation system manager to confirm it. Moreover, in the case where the order/reservation confirmation information that reflects the above changed items is generated in the step S222, if there exists a standby customer of the next preference, who requested the same order/reservation before that change, a short message or a wireless internet e-mail with respect to the order/ reservation items before the change, along with the acknowledgement/ cancellation/change menu, is delivered to the standby customer's mobile terminal. On the other hand, if there is no standby customer, it is preferable that the order/reservation confirmation information before the change is deleted and, simultaneously, the deleted information is temporarily displayed so as to allow the order/ reservation system manager to confirm it.
Industrial Applicability
According to the present invention, the caller's identification number of a customer who makes order/reservation and the caller information according to the caller's identification number can be automatically promptly identified, so that effective order/reservation service can be provided. Furthermore, the order/reservation system can make the customer confirm his or her order/reservation so as to minimize dishonor or error in order/reservation. Accordingly, the improved order/reservation service satisfying both the order/reservation customer and the order/reservation service provider can be realized.
In the meantime, the customer information center can simultaneously provide customer information to a plurality of order/reservation systems connected through the internet. Because the multiple order/reservation systems share the customer information of the customer information center, even when a new customer calls an order/reservation system for order/reservation for the first time, it can be provided with the customer information so long as he/she is a customer registered at the customer information center.
While the present invention has been described with reference to the particular illustrative embodiments, it is not to be restricted by the embodiments but only by the appended claims. It is to be appreciated that those skilled in the art can change or
modify the embodiments without departing from the scope and spirit of the present invention.
