Abstract
Die Erfindung betrifft eine Memran-Elektroden-Einheit für eine selbstbefeuchtende Brennstoffzelle. Die Elektroden der erfindungsgemassen MEA bestehen aus einer membranseitig aufgebrachten .Katalysatorschicht, einer daran angrenzenden mikroporösen und einer darauffolgend angeordneten makroporösen Elektrodenschicht, wobei die mikroporöe Elektrodenschicht auf der Kathodenseite plättchenförmigen Graphit und anodenseitig Russpartikel mit rauher Oberfläche und der Fähigkeit zur Wassereinlagerung aufweist. Aufgrund des Aufbaus und der Morphologie der jeweiligen Elektrode, des Zusammenspiels der beiden Elektroden im MEA-Verbund und der Abstimmng aufeinander bildet sich ein Massestrom von der Kathode zur Anode aus, der die Rückdiffusion des Reaktionswassers durch den Elektrolyten begünstigt und somit eine ausreichende Befeuchtung des Elektrolyten gewährleistet.
