L'appareil comprend plusieurs réacteurs reliés en série par des conduites destinées au transport de la pulpe par gravité, avec des mélangeurs à palettes, des éléments chauffants, des tubes d'amenée et d'évacuation de pulpe, disposés sur les premier et deuxième réacteurs, respectivement. Les couvercles sont reliés étanches aux corps des réacteurs, les parties supérieures des réacteurs sont reliées en série par des conduites à des fins de déplacement de la phase gazeuse, l'installation étant munie de tuyaux à joints hydrauliques fixés étanches dans les couvercles, des arbres d'entraînement des mélangeurs à palettes étant montés dans lesdits tuyaux, et des joints hydrauliques montés sur chaque couvercle et communiquant avec les parties supérieures des réacteurs.
