- the tube extension 11 and the outer cone 13 are arranged coaxially and connected by a straight longitudinal channel 14.
- the outer cone 13 is surrounded by a screw 15.
- This is a union nut 16 with threads 17 arranged on the inside.
- a union tube 18 surrounds part of the length of the tube extension 11.
- the connector body Approximately in the middle of its length, the connector body has an outer circumferential groove 19 and adjoining it a radially standing ring 20 on.
- the groove 19 and the ring 20 serve to hold a grip part 21 axially, which is pushed onto the connector body from the rear end (from the tubular extension 18).

- the handle part 21 has at the rear end an annular end wall 25, from which a plurality of resilient tongues 26 project axially parallel to the front. These resilient tongues 26 run in the axial direction of the connector body, but are slightly inclined, and they each have a tip 27 at their front ends.
- a rearward-facing shoulder 28 is provided, in which a plurality of sawtooth-shaped locking teeth 29 are formed.
- the tips 27 of the resilient tongues 26 engage in the tooth gaps between the ratchet teeth 29, as is shown in FIG. 5.
- the resilient tongues 26 and the locking teeth 29 form an overload clutch 30.
- This overload clutch is shown in engagement in FIG. 5. If the tubular handle part 21 is rotated in the tightening direction, which is indicated in FIG. 5 by the arrow 31, then the tongues 26 move in the direction of the arrow 32, pressing against the oblique flanks of the saw teeth 29 and thereby rotating the connector body 10 as well. When the limit torque is reached, the resilient tongues 26 bend, as a result of which the tips 27 slide over the locking teeth 29, so that there is no rotational entrainment more done. This prevents excessive tightening of the screw connection.
- the handle part 21 When loosening the screw connection, the handle part 21 is rotated in the loosening direction against the arrow 31 in FIG. 5, the tips 27 of the resilient tongues 26 being pressed against the steep flanks of the saw teeth. Since the tongues 26 are subjected to pressure and are not bent, they take the connector body 10 in this direction without torque limitation.
- a protective cap 33 is provided, which is attached to the front end of the union nut 16 and sealingly engages the outer cone 13. This protective cap 33 can be removed in order to be able to connect the mating connector.
- the grip part 21 covers the connector body 10 over a substantial part of its length. It has a cylindrical outer surface with a corrugation 34 to allow firm gripping by hand.
- the safety connector consists of only two parts, namely the connector body 10 and the handle part 21 sitting on it.
