- the invention relates to the device intended for dielectric-vacuum drying and colour tingeing of hard wood. It is a progressive combination of vacuum-dielectric drying devices and steaming chambers, usually used for colour tingeing.
- vacuum-based drying devices do not allow and enable homogenous material heating for which in the course of drying process there occur mechanical deformations of the material dried.
- duration of drying-process itself during which a required output material dampness level is to be attained rises and extends inadequately in terms of time.
- dielectric-based drying device is in principle limited in such a sense that it does not allow exhausting an immense content and volume of dampness liberated from the material. This is only possible with a certain negative pressure, which must be generated for this purpose, however, this is a technical feature of vacuum drying devices.
- Steaming devices are self-contained, closed pressure devices (vessels) in which the quality and properties of wood material are improved, mainly its elasticity and colour tinge, with the time during which the material is exposed to specific pressure effects.
- this process currently applied is not efficient and enormously cost- intensive.
- it is a prerequisite to build large steaming silos (pits) and, in principle, automatic control of wood material tingeing process is not possible.
- a required colour tinge can not be achieved with accuracy below 20 per cent.
- the said objective and result can be achieved on the basis of the dielectric- vacuum device for drying and colour-tingeing of deciduous and hard wood materials, in accordance with the invention (of the device/dryer), consisting of a cylindrical pressure vessel into which the material to be dried is transported, inner drying space connected with the vacuum pump by means of which a negative pressure is generated, the condensing unit that changes the water vapours to a liquid state, equipped (the condensing unit) with a circulating pump and the liquid-cooling unit.
- the condensing unit, circulating pump and cooling unit are located at the opposite end of pressure vessel.
- Emitters with high-frequency electromagnetic energy sources are mounted at the outer surface of the vessel, behind the shielded openings through which the radiation is distributed, installed at the opposite sides of the vessel.
- Inner drying space of the pressure vessel is connected with the liquid-pumping unit and all the said elements are linked with the process-control console.

- High-frequency electromagnetic energy necessary to achieve a homogenous heating-up of wood material is distributed into the cylindrical pressure vessel in which the wood material dried is placed, by means of special directional emitters, directly into the entire mass of the material dried and in parallel with the effects of negative pressure, thus causing an intensive liberation of dampness from wood material dried and its (dampness) absorption in the inner environment of the device's drying space in which it is changed, through the heat shock, to a condensate that is then exhausted out of the drying space.
- the device based on the said invention (figs. 3 and 4) consisted of pressure vessel 1 in the form of pressure, thermally insulated steel cylinder of 1800 mm in diameter, in lower part of which there was a wheeled material-supporting transport platform 5 on which wood material 8 dried was placed.
- the pressure vessel 1 was equipped with the hermetic vacuum locking cover 13.
- At the front side there was located the inner drying space connected with the vacuum pumping unit 4.
- At both sides of the inner drying space (approximately in the middle of the same) there were located 8 shielded openings (at each side of the cylinder's shell) behind which the high frequency electromagnetic energy emitters 3 were mounted.
- condensing unit 7 consisting of a condenser with cooling medium, connected with the circulating pump V_ and cooling unit 12. Behind the condenser there was installed the water pump 14 for the purpose of pumping out the liquid, which water pump was connected to the inner drying space of the pressure vessel 1_. All the elements of the device were linked with a central processor unit by means of which the entire process of wood material drying and colour tingeing was controlled.
- This device had been used both for wood material's drying and, the material's drying and colour tingeing of the same, as it is described herebelow.
- Wood material to be dried was placed on the wheeled material-supporting transport platform and inserted in this way into the inner drying space (steel cylinder) which was then hermetically closed and locked.
- the very drying process is fully automatic with the understanding that individual data were detected, collected and processed in the entire course of wood material drying process.
- the moment of drying-process' deactivation was determined with reference to a volume of condensate exhausted, which volume had been (pre-)set (as the figure related to wood material output dampness level) at the drying process start-up and activation.
- figs. 1 and 2 there is depicted the device based on the invention from figs. 3 and 4 which was equipped with compressor 6 and there were installed spraying nozzles 10 along the entire length of its upper part, connected (the nozzles) to hot-steam generator 9 installed at the back part of the device, outside the device's inner drying space. Also these elements were linked with the central processor unit.
- the device enhanced in this manner was used for colour tingeing of wood material with the application of steaming method, as mentioned herebelow. It should be mentioned that this device makes it possible to colour-tinge the wood material, which had already been dried-up before.
- the vacuum pump was deactivated by which act the negative pressure was eliminated and the respective positive pressure (overpressure) was generated through the steam that was brought and blown into the inner drying space of the device. Hot steam was then applied to wood material, placed on the wheeled material-supporting platform, through the spraying nozzles.
- drying and colour-tingeing device is intended for wood and wooden material-processing business subjects and firms, as well as final wood-product manufacturers.
