Abstract
L'invention se rapporte à une substance halogénée telle qu'une dioxine, un composé chlorure de polybiphényle, par exemple du PCB, un produit chimique agricole organique halogéné, un composé organique halogéné, ou un composé haloéthylène, que l'on fait réagir avec une substance qui est normalement chimiquement équivalente à la substance halogénée en décomposition et est faiblement toxique ou non toxique, à l'aide d'une substance chimique telle qu'un acide, un alcali, ou un agent réducteur, par exemple, un hydrure d'aluminium-lithium, un élément biologique tel qu'un micro-organisme ou un enzyme, ou un élément physique tel qu'un rayonnement ultraviolet ou ultrasonore. Ainsi, la substance halogénée peut être déshalogénée et décomposée. Il est facile de détecter ou de confirmer que la substance halogénée a été décomposée en procédant à une chromatographie en couche mince ou à une irradiation par des ultraviolets.
