Definitions
- the invention relates to a package for solid, edible elements such as peanuts, assorted chocolates, sweets and snacks, and comprising partly a relatively elongated container made of a foil and having at one end a free opening, and partly a closure for detachably closing this opening.
- Such edible elements are normally marketed in bags which are cut or torn open to give the user access to the elements.
- the bags can normally not be reclosed to thereby be able to in a satisfactorily way pack and store remaining edible elements, and they are not very interesting in themselves.
- the object of the invention is to provide a package of the kind mentioned in the opening paragraph, which has an interesting and attractive design and which without being spoiled can be opened and closed repeatedly.
- the novel and unique features according to the invention is the fact that the size of the free container opening is such that it allows passage of at least one edible element, and that the other end of the container is closed by two opposite foil sides joined to each other.
- Vast amounts are spent on advertisements in e.g. newspapers or in form of printed advertising material .
- This advertising generally has a very short useful life which in no way is proportional to the much money that is spent yearly on advertising. It is furthermore quite normal that no attention is paid to such advertising.
- the advertising consists of a package according to the invention with the printed message of the respective business
- the advertising gets a long lifetime.
- the investment in the package content which e.g. can be peanuts, is well spent because the advert is not thrown away right away but is on the contrary gladly kept .
- the advert has been given a value of its own to the recipient who every time the package is out for being able for some of the content to be used is reminded of the message of the advert.
- the two opposite foil sides which close the container at its other end can advantageously be joined at the folding.
- the foil of the container is flexible, a relatively thin and consequently inexpensive foil can advantageously be used.
- the foil of the container is of the kind that can be permanently deformed, the advantage is obtained in that the package after use can be deformed so that it does not take up much space as rubbish.
- the closure can be shaped as a bowl into which some of the edible elements can be filled and passed around. Thereby, the package is given still another quality which can engage the recipient and hold the attention of the recipient and of other people so that the service value and the advertising effect of the package are increased.
- This bowl can in an advantageous embodiment be a cap for being screwed onto the container so that the package easily and conveniently can be opened and closed repeatedly without being spoiled. The recipient therefore does not have to eat the entire content all at once but can conveniently put the rest away for later use.
- the invention also relates to an expedient method for filling a portion of edible elements into a package of the above kind, whereby the container is preliminarily constructed with an open second end, the desired portion of edible elements is filled into the container via this open second end which is then squeezed together in the two opposite sides which are welded and/or folded together.
- Fig. 1 is a sectional side elevational view of a package according to the invention during filling with edible elements via an open opening for filling,
- Fig. 2 is a sectional side elevational view of the filled package with closed opening for filling
- Fig. 3 shows the package in fig. 2 but rotated 90°
- Fig. 4 is a sectional side elevational view of the package in figs. 2 and 3 during emptying via an opening for emptying.
- the package according to the invention is used for peanuts, it must however be noted that the package is also suited for many other kinds of edible elements, for example assorted chocolates, sweets and snacks.
- the package In figs. 1-4, the package is in a vertical position and is generally designated by the reference numeral 1.
- the package is made of foil and consists of a container 2 with an opening for emptying 3 which in figs. 1-3 is closed with a cap 4 which in this case is screwed onto the container by means of a screw thread 5.
- the container has at the top a opening for filling 6 facing oppositely of the opening for emptying and is being filled with peanuts 7 manually or automatically.
- Fig. 3 is a side view from outside of the ready package but rotated an angle of 90° in relation to fig. 2.
- the package bears a printed message 9 which can be a business name, a logo, a figure, an advertisement, a statement of the content of the package, or one or several of these possibilities in combination.
- the cap 4 is screwed off of the container 2, and a number of peanuts 7 are emptied through the opening for emptying 3. The cap is then screwed on the container again which fully intact now serves for storing the remaining peanuts .
