Abstract

Dans les cotyles constitués d'une coquille cotyloïdienne et d'un insert cotyloïdien en céramique pouvant être introduit dans cette dernière, les faces de joints des deux composants doivent être usinées avec précision. En effet, en cas d'imprécisions, des concentrations irrégulières de contraintes risquent d'apparaître dans les inserts cotyloïdiens et d'entraîner un diminution de la résistance du composant. En outre, des impuretés dues à l'opération risquent d'affecter la stabilité de l'accouplement par serrage. Pour cette raison, des moyens servant à homogénéiser le transfert de force sont placés entre l'insert cotyloïdien en céramique et la coquille cotyloïdienne en métal. Dans la technique antérieure, on utilise à cet effet une couche de matière plastique, notamment de polyéthylène. Un élément d'accouplement en polyéthylène présente cependant l'inconvénient de ne pas résister au fluage à froid. En outre, des mouvements risquent de se produire entre l'élément d'accouplement et la coquille cotyloïdienne et de provoquer une abrasion. Selon l'invention, il est donc prévu de placer, entre la coquille cotyloïdienne (2) et l'insert cotyloïdien (3) du cotyle (1), un élément d'accouplement (5) dont l'élasticité et les propriétés d'amortissement peuvent être prédéterminées par sa porosité et la structure de sa surface.
