Abstract

The invention concerns extracts obtained by decoction and steam distillation of a combination of plants comprising essentially: 35 to 80 % of myrtle (leaves and fruits); 20 to 65 % of Phyllantus emblica (fruit) or a combination of 2 to 15 % of aniseed, 2 to 15 % zyzyphus (leaves and fruits) and 6 to 25 % of myrobalan, the percentages being expressed in weight with respect to the resulting mixture weight, and optionally plants whereof the extracts have astringent and nutrient properties. The invention also concerns the method for preparing said extracts and their use.

PLANT EXTRACTS USED TO COMBAT HAIR LOSS AND THEIR PREPARATION

The invention relates to plant extracts used for combating hair loss, a process for preparing them, and their use for combating hair loss and promoting their regrowth.

The problem of hair loss has long held the attention of researchers and many products, either natural or synthetic, have been proposed and are trying to solve the problem more or less satisfactorily.

In addition, certain treatments, in particular based on natural products, impose application durations of several hours which oblige the user to keep them overnight, with the disadvantages that this entails due to their fatty character, their odor , etc ... The invention overcomes these drawbacks by providing aqueous or oily compositions, requiring shorter application times and giving interesting results. There is, in fact, a halt in hair loss in two to three weeks and a clear regrowth in three months. These compositions are obtained from a specific combination of plants which is treated by decoction and distillation by entrainment in water vapor and provides an aqueous composition of plant extracts which can be used as it is or transformed into an oily composition. with vegetable oil or a mixture of vegetable oils.

The association or mixture of plants contains, as essential constituents,

- 35 to 80% myrtle (leaves and fruits)

- 20 to 65% of Phyllantus emblica (fruit) or of a mixture of green anise, zyzyphus (leaves and fruits) and myrobalam in proportions such as green anise, zyzyphus and myrobalam represent respectively 2 to 15%, 2 to 15% and 6 to 25% of the total plant mixture.

Lower proportions of plants with an astringent or nourishing character can be used, and in particular for their astringent role, up to 10% of Rosa gallica or from 1 to 5% of cloves (nails and bark), and for their nourishing role up to 10% of cinquefoil or up to 15% of acorn (crushed). These percentages are expressed relative to the total weight of the base combination.

In a variant, at most half of the myrtle can be replaced by cypress (leaves and fruits).

The above percentages are percentages by weight expressed in relation to fresh myrtle and cypress and in relation to other dry plants.

When using a mixture of green anise, zyzyphus and myrobalam, the percentages are chosen so that the total mixture contains at least 20%.

Before being used, some plants need to be crushed. The zyzyphus and the cloves will be ground, for example in a rotary grinder, until a powder with an average particle size of 0.5 mm is obtained while the cypress (leaves and fruits) will be ground, for example manually pestle and mortar, until a coarse paste is obtained. The absence of grinding apparently does not allow the extraction of the plant elements constituting some of the active principles of the hair compositions of the invention. Once the mixture of plants has been prepared, twice its weight of water is added to it, it is heated to boiling so as to evaporate substantially half of the water in about five hours at atmospheric pressure and a composition is collected. aqueous plant extracts entrained by water vapor. Other procedures or conditions for decoction and distillation by entrainment with steam are part of the general knowledge of a person skilled in the art.

After cooling, the aqueous composition can be used directly as a treatment composition. It can also be transformed into an oily composition according to the following treatment.

The aqueous composition is added to approximately once its weight of vegetable oils, preferably chosen from olive oil, sesame oil and bay oil or their mixtures. One can use in particular sesame oil containing from 10 to 50% of olive oil or a mixture of at least 30% sesame oil and olive oil and laurel oil in variable proportions.

The whole is brought to 100 ° C. under moderate conditions and with stirring to remove the water in about three hours. Avoid heating above 100 ° C in order not to deteriorate the active ingredients contained in the composition. Moderate conditions are necessary so as not to entrain the active ingredients with the evaporating water.

The operation of extracting the active ingredients with a vegetable oil can also be carried out at temperatures below 100 ° C. or at ambient temperature with laboratory extractors.

The oily composition thus obtained is ready for use after cooling. The above aqueous and oily compositions constitute oily lotions and preparations which can be used as such but they can be used to prepare shampoos, emulsions or be liposomal, microencapsulated, etc.

The cosmetic treatment consists in massaging the clean and dry scalp with, at each application, 2 to 5 g of an oily or aqueous composition. It is recommended to carry out a hyperemiant brushing beforehand in order to prepare the scalp for the treatment. After massage, leave on for at least one to two hours. This minimum duration, however, allows the treatment to be applied in the evening and shampoo before bedtime. In the case where an aqueous composition is used, the shampoo is not even necessary since the composition dries quickly, is not greasy and allows styling.

The application is daily at the start of treatment then will be spaced up to twice a week and will continue as long as necessary.

After four to five weeks, there is a considerable slowdown in the fall and a slight regrowth. Significant regrowth was seen after five / six months in subjects with old alopecia, some even having an aggravating genetic factor. The preparation of the aqueous and oily compositions of the invention will be described in more detail in the examples below. Example 1

Preparation of an aqueous extract Weigh:

The zyzyphus and the cloves were previously ground in a rotary grinder to obtain a powder with a particle size of 0.5 mm, while the cypress is crushed with a pestle and mortar until a paste forms. coarse.

The plants are introduced into a flask equipped with a thermometer and a refrigerant. Double their weight, 420 g of water, is added and the mixture is heated under moderate conditions to evaporate half of the water in about 5 hours. The residual contents of the flask are discarded and 220 ml of an aqueous extract containing water and the distilled compounds are collected by stripping with steam.

After cooling, the extract obtained can be used directly as an aqueous composition for treating hair loss or else transformed into an oily composition as described below.

Example 2

Preparation of an oily composition.

200 g of olive oil and 800 g of sesame oil are added to 1 liter of an aqueous extract obtained according to the procedure of Example 1 and the mixture is heated to 100 ° C. under moderate conditions to evaporate. water in three hours.

Each of the aqueous and oily compositions obtained in Examples 1, 2 and 3 A to 3F is used to treat the scalp of patients with old or recent alopecia.

In each case, a clean and dry scalp is brushed beforehand, which makes it possible to prepare it for the application of the treatment composition.

3 g are applied each time (the dose can range from 2 to 5 g) of the composition and the scalp is massaged 2 to 3 minutes before leaving for two hours.

The application is made, for practical reasons, in the evening and the oily compositions are removed before bedtime by shampoo.

The aqueous compositions can also be removed by shampoo but this is not essential because they dry quickly and do not grease the scalp.

After four to five weeks, there is a fall arrest and slight regrowth. We can then space the application which, daily, will gradually become two to three times a week.

Treatment for three months causes significant hair regrowth, which demonstrates the effectiveness of the previous hair compositions.

Claims

1. Extracts obtained by decoction and distillation by entrainment in water vapor of a combination of plants which essentially comprises: - 35 to 80% myrtle (leaves and fruits)
