Definitions

  • the invention concerns a watering system, especially for the watering of plant pots and other cultivation media, and consisting of a main supply pipe in the form of a hose or tube-piece to which a number of outlet tubes are connected, the free end of which on each outlet tube opens out down in a cup-shaped container with an opening which faces upwards, said container being placed above the surface of the soil in a plant pot, and where the watering system is intermittently and in a pulsating manner supplied with water under pressure for drip-watering of the plant pots.
  • Such watering systems are known, whereby by setting the main supply pipe under pressure for shorter or longer periods of time, the plant pots which constitute the watering place are supplied with smaller or greater amounts of water.
  • the outflow tubes are often configured as flexible hoses, which makes it easy to lead these hoses to each watering place.
  • Nutrient salts are usually added to the water used for watering, and particularly in Denmark the water is often very calcareous .
  • the container is configured as a hemispherical dish with a screw extending out from the internal cavity of the dish, so that the container can be screwed firmly on the hose.
  • the end of the hose will extend under the container's upper edge and herewith under the surface of the water.
  • a watering system which is characteristic in that the container is provided not only with an elongated inner cavity in which the outflow tube can be inserted and open out at a suitably small distance from the bottom of the container, but also an oblong spike which extends from the bottom of the container and which can be stuck into the soil and hereby secure the container with the outflow tube in the plant pot.
  • the container is simple to produce.
  • the container by providing the container with a hole uppermost in the side, the end of the outflow tube can easily be introduced into the inside of the container. This considerably eases the mounting of the container, and the container will be able to be used on all of the different sizes of hoses or tubes which are used as outflow tubes.
  • the container with an upper tag with a hole for the outflow tube, in that the tube can hereby be locked firmly in its position in the container by pressing the tag down in the container opening. This provides security against unintentional release from or displacement of the container on the tube .
  • fig. 1 shows a known watering system, especially for the drip-watering of plant pots
  • fig. 2 shows a cup-shaped container for a watering system according to the invention
  • fig. 3 shows an outflow tube mounted in the cup-shaped container which is shown in fig. 2.
  • Fig. 1 shows a section of a main supply pipe 1 which is connected to a water supply for a watering system.
  • the main supply pipe 1 has a series of holes 2, in each of which holes 2 there is placed an outflow tube 3 which, for example, can be in the shape of an inverted J, said outflow tubes 3 being made of a stiff material.
  • the outflow tubes 3 can also be hoses which are produced from a flexible material .
  • the outflow tubes 3 have free ends 9 disposed over each their plant pot 5 which contain plants (not shown in the drawing) which are to be watered.
  • the main supply pipe 1 is supplied from time to time with water under pressure, so that with each water pulsation there are given off one or more drops 4 which drip down on to the soil in the plant pot 5.
  • each outflow tube 3 is disposed inside or down in a cup-shaped container 10 which is shown in fig. 2.
  • the cup-shaped container 10 has a body 6 in the form of an oblong tube which is closed with a bottom 11 at the downwardly-facing end in the position of use. The opposite end thus has an opening 12 which faces upwards.
  • a tag 7 with a hole 7a which is arranged to accommodate a free end 9 on an outflow tube 3, so that the outflow tube 3 extends inside or down in the container 10 as shown in fig. 3.
  • the cup-shaped container 10 is preferably provided with a commonly-known spike 8 which is disposed on the outer side of the bottom 11 in extension of the container.
  • a commonly-known spike 8 which is disposed on the outer side of the bottom 11 in extension of the container.
  • the spike 8 it is easy to place the container 10 with the outflow tube 3 in the correct position in the plant pot 5.
  • the wall of the container can simply be provided with a hole immediately under the opening 12.
