Definitions
- the present invention essentially relates to a refillable applicator device for a more or less viscous liquid product such as nail varnish for example.
- Applicator devices are already known which essentially comprise a body containing a reservoir and provided with a brush which can be impregnated with the product contained in the reservoir in order to allow the application of this product.
- the object of the present invention is to remedy this drawback and, in general, to solve the problems which arise with the apparatuses of the prior art, and in particular that of the pollution of the environment by harmful elements such as the magnets used in this kind of device.
- the invention relates to a refillable applicator device for a more or less viscous liquid product, such as nail varnish for example, and of the type comprising a body containing a reservoir provided with a brush or the like which allows the application of the product contained in the tank and the operation of which is carried out by a button actuating one of two magnetic elements mounted to slide respectively outside and inside said tank characterized in that the tank and its associated brush provided with said magnetic element inside said reservoir form a cartridge which can be extracted from the body.
- This device is further characterized by mechanical means forming a gear constituted by at least one double-toothed pinion mounted idly on the body and meshing on the one hand with at least a first arm secured to the button and with at least a second arm secured to the magnetic element slidably housed in said body.
- the magnetic element in question is an annular magnet from which protrude two diametrically opposite arms forming a rack and each meshing with a said pinion.
- the aforementioned magnet is slidably mounted in a chamber formed by a sleeve constituting the front part of the body, and by a tube which extends the reservoir itself and in which slides a part carrying the brush and surrounded by a ferromagnetic ring cooperating with said magnet.
- This ferromagnetic ring associated with the brush and therefore with the cartridge forming a reservoir can therefore be discarded without any disadvantage for the environment.
- the applicator device of this invention is further characterized by the fact that it comprises a socket mounted in the body and carrying the aforementioned pinions, while the button is pivotally mounted on this socket or on an envelope surrounding the reservoir itself.
- the button is constantly stressed by a spring interposed between said button and the aforementioned socket.
- a ring On the front part of the sleeve-shaped body, a ring is mounted defining with this front part a housing for a plug.
- the aforesaid magnet is surrounded by a wall forming a shielding vis-à-vis the outside of the body and provided with lugs which radially through 'the sleeve forming the forward portion of the body to allow actuation of this magnet and therefore of the brush by cooperation with the plug.
- This device is further characterized in that the magnet consists of two axially superimposed rings, separated and magnetized radially so that the polarity of one ring is opposite to the polarity of the other ring.
- Figure 1 is a schematic view in axial section of an applicator device according to this invention, illustrated in the active position, that is to say brush out.
- Figure 2 is a view similar to Figure 1, but showing the device in the inactive or storage position.
- Figure 3 is an exploded and partial perspective view of the apparatus, showing the essential elements for controlling the applicator brush.
- Figure 4 is a very schematic view in axial section, illustrating the magnetic means of the device.
- an applicator device essentially comprises a body 1 in which can be removably mounted, a cartridge 2 forming a reservoir for liquid product more or less viscous and with which an applicator brush 3 is associated.
- the body 1 comprises a front part 4 in the form of a sleeve, and on this front part is mounted, by screwing for example, a ring 5 defining with said front part a space 6 allowing the reception of a plug visible at 7 in the figure 2.
- a cover or the like mounted on the end of the casing 9 and with which is associated a spring 11 for holding the removable cartridge 2 in the body 1. It is perfectly possible, without departing from the scope of the invention, omit the cover 10 and the spring 11, in which case the casing 9 would be closed on the rear, and the clipping 8 could be replaced by a thread allowing the casing 9 to be screwed onto the body 1.
- a socket 12 is mounted and retained carrying the mechanical control part of the brush 3, and which will be described in detail below.
- the cartridge 2 comprises a rear part 13 constituting the reservoir proper, and a front part having the form of a tube 14 with which the applicator brush 3 is associated, which, with the tube 14 and the reservoir 13, form a unitary assembly and can be easily removed from the body 1.
- a side push button mounted articulated at 16 on the casing 9 of the reservoir 13 and permanently urged towards the outside of the body 1 by a spring 17 interposed between said push-button 15 and the socket 12 which, like the push-button, has for this purpose an appropriate housing.
- a gear 18 On the sleeve 12, is mounted a gear 18 clearly visible in FIG. 3 and constituted by two pinions 19 mounted idly on the sleeve 12 and each comprising a double toothing, namely a toothing 19a on the external periphery of each pinion, and a teeth 19b of smaller diameter.
- the teeth 19b of the two pinions 19 mesh, respectively, with two arms 20 carried by the lateral push button 15.
- the two teeth 19a of larger diameter they mesh respectively with two other arms 21 projecting diametrically from a magnetic element 22 in the form of a cylinder clearly visible in FIG. 3 and mounted to slide in a chamber 23 formed on the front part. or sleeve 4 of body 1, said element 22 sliding between sleeve 4 and tube 14 of cartridge 2, as can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2.
- the two arms 21 each form a rack meshing with the teeth 19b of the pinions 19, as well as the arms 20 of the push button 15 each also form, as seen in FIG. 3, a rack 20a meshing with the teeth 19a of the pinions 19.
- the magnetic element 22 is constituted by a magnet itself 24 housed inside a plastic cylinder 25 which itself carries the rack-forming arm 21.
- the cylinder 25 forms a wall surrounding the magnet 24 and advantageously plays the role of a shielding wall with respect to the exterior of the body 1, in particular when the device is contained in a bag also containing objects such as for example magnetic cards.
- the magnet 24, consists of two axially superimposed rings 24a and 24b. These two rings are separated by a ring for example (not shown in the figures), and they are magnetized radially so that the polarity of one ring is opposite to the polarity of the other ring, as shown in the figure 4 by the letters N and S.
- the magnetic part of the disposable part namely the cartridge 2
- the magnetic part of the disposable part namely the cartridge 2
- the magnets are generally made up of several metals, some of which are considered to be harmful to the environment, and which here constitute an element of the non-disposable part of the device.
- pins which radially pass through the sleeve 4 forming the front part of the body 1 and which are integral with the wall 25 and the magnet 24. These pins 26, the role of which will be explained later in About the operation, are guided in lights 27 formed in the front part 4 of the body 1.
- the applicator brush 3 is carried by a plastic part 28 slidably mounted inside the tube 14 constituting with the reservoir 13 the cartridge 2.
- a ring made of ferro-magnetic material 29 externally surrounds the part 28 and is therefore directly opposite the wall of the tube 14, as can be seen in FIGS. 1 and 2, so that it can cooperate with the movable magnet 24.
- a joint-forming surface 30 will be provided at the root of the bristles of the brush 3, in order to seal between the cartridge 2 and the exterior of the device when the latter is in the visible position of use. in figure 1.
- the cartridge 2 has internally a sleeve 40, clearly visible in FIGS. 1 and 2, and forming a stop for the recoil of the part 28 in the tube 14 constituting the active end of said cartridge.
- the invention is in no way limited to the embodiment described and illustrated, which has been given only by way of example.
- the number and the material of the elements constituting the body of the device can be any, as well as the structure and the constitution of the cooperating magnetic elements, and in particular those of the annular magnet associated with the body of the device and controlled by the side push button.
