Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a transport device which is intended for boats and the like on shore and which may be carried along at sea.
  • the invention has points in common with trailers, boat trailers and boat recovery trolleys. What charac ⁇ terises trailers is that they must be loaded, which necessitates lifting, and what characterises the other two is that the load must be hauled up.
  • the devices are con ⁇ sidered to generally satisfy boat owners' need of using them twice a year, but they are less convenient for a boat owner who has no berth or does not want to leave his boat in the harbour. They are also not convenient for e.g.. owners of small boats who want to keep the boat in the garden and quickly to go on a boating excursion. Besides, they cannot be used if you want to go ashore and recover the boat temporarily or continue by land to some other place.
  • the object of the invention is to make it easier for this new type of boat owners or temporary boat owners to transport their boats by providing a device which can be mounted on the boat and dismounted therefrom, be used with or without a towbar and be carried along at sea, with the wheels either turned up onto or into the boat or staying in the lowered position under the boat.
  • This object is achieved by the connection between wheels and axles and the attachment on the stern forming a platform (rear supporting member) on which the transported boat should rest, and the remaining connection to a part adapted to be attached to the stern comprising a hinge slightly behind and above the lower side of the stern, and a hinge in a part connected to the stern and positioned slightly above the actual stern.
  • the towbar To render it possible to carry along the towbar at sea and park it on top of the boat and to make it flexible in the raising and lowering movements, it is designed as shafts extending freely outside the sides of the boat and joined into a rod in front of the stem, and the shafts are hinged at their points of attachment adjacent the wheel axle or parts connected to the wheel axle. To make it easier to transport the towbar without losing known properties of e.g. boat trailers, it is made in two parts, one provided with a ball coupling sleeve, a winch and an abutment.
