Definitions
- the present invention relates to a system of controlled floating vacuum cleaners, for the collection of liquids of lower density that are floating on another liquid, generally water.
- European Patent 0024187 describes a system of controlled floating vacuum cleaners:, s, mainly focused on the collection of petroleum products that are floating on the sea surface, due to spills from underwater deposits, by collisions between tankers, embankments, or for any other type of cause or circumstance that originates the so-called "black tides”.
- the system of said patent is based on the provision, on the sides of a tanker, of prismatic cages with a height such that the vessel being in ballast or empty, the lower part of such cages will be submerged in the sea, while the top of such cages will rise above the maximum load line of the ship.
- Inside each cage there is a plurality - * - floating vacuum cleaners, capable of moving freely within the said cages, adapting to the minor fluctuating movements of the liquid surface, so that said vacuum cleaners constantly maintain a position of flotation on water, whatever the state of flotation of the vessel.
- the aforementioned cages are of enormous dimensions, which make their placement very difficult, which create storage problems when they are out of use and which also have to withstand enormous efforts in the water, given their large length, which It makes their employment difficult.
- the refinements object of the present invention have a specific and specific purpose to solve in a fully satisfactory manner the above-mentioned problem, in each and every one of its aspects, allowing the use of a cage of reduced dimensions, resulting in easy storage and handling, cage that on the other hand can be used in any other type of vessel, regardless of the characteristics of the latter, in terms of its ballast water lines and in a situation of maximum load.
- the classic fixed cage is replaced by a floating cage, of small dimensions, which allows its transfer inside a container, for which purpose the cage itself is assisted by two large floats, arranged laterally so that they do not interfere with the penetration of the products that are found in the liquid surface, counting.
- said cage on one of its sides, that of coupling ..or to the ship, with a structure topped on skates through which the cage as a whole is vertically movable on guides operatively fixed to the outer side of the ship.
- each of said skates will incorporate two pairs of wheels of axes perpendicular to each other, so that such wheels will act interchangeably on the side walls and on the bottom of the ribbed profiles constituting said guides.
- the aforementioned structure of the floating cage joins the aforementioned skates in an articulated manner, so that this joint ai:. to the trajectory of the guides, to avoid the tendency to block them caused by the undulations of the water surface.
- the floating cage thus structured, provided with front baffles that enhance its efficiency by concentrating the products that overflow the liquid surface towards the mouth of the cage itself, incorporates in it one or more vacuum modules, in turn floating and assisted by a or more suction pumps, which may be located at the top of the floating cage or on the ship's deck, vacuum module that can float with full independence within the cage but which will preferably be associated in an articulated way to the anterior area of the cage, to absorb the ship's head.
- Another improvement consists in including an auxiliary or complementary device located in front of the vacuum module mentioned above, said auxiliary device being formed by an analogous module, with the only variant lacking the suction system.
- This module or auxiliary device that is articulated on the respective sides of the ship, constitutes a floating support for the tails of the corresponding barriers, which are also floating and dragged by two tugs, determine the means to direct the floating liquid that is intended to collect towards the respective controlled floating suction modules.
- both floating elements that is, the auxiliary device that forms the floating support for the tails of the collateral barriers and the controlled floating vacuum cleaner, being similar elements in their external structure and being identically attached to the sides of the The vessel will float continuously in the same conditions, so that the floating liquid that is intended to be collected is conducted entirely to the vacuum cleaner, regardless of the state of the sea and the movements suffered by said floating elements and the ship itself, during navigation.
- the constituent module of the controlled floating vacuum cleaner is capable of including a sensor or detector that will continuously control the proportion of water that is aspirated with the floating liquid to be collected, so that in view of the indications or warnings provided by that sensor or detector, will automatically vary the position of the mouth of aspiration in order to cancel the entry of water and thus achieve total effectiveness in the aspiration or withdrawal of spilled floating liquid.
- FIG. 1 shows a general perspective view of a cage made in accordance with the improvements object of the present invention, which appears conveniently coupled to the trawler thereof.
- Figure 2. Shows an enlarged detail of the same cage, at the level of the vertical sliding skate on the lateral guides of the ship.
- FIG. 3 Shows an internal perspective of the same cage, in which the vacuum module established therein is partially observed.
- Figure 4. Shows a schematic representation on the upper floor of what can be considered as a ship on one of whose sides includes a floating vacuum module controlled with its corresponding floats, also represented schematically, and the auxiliary device constituting the floating support , also forming a module of analogous characteristics external to those of the aforementioned module, being set in the same way to the respective side of the ship.
- the cage that participates in said system is floating, having a structure (1), of appropriate stiffness, in the that a front mouth (2), conveniently lattice and a rear and analogous outlet (3) is defined, this structure (1) counting with side trusses (4) and (5) that support respective floats (6-6 '), which are those that confer the floating character to the cage, and of which the internal and referenced with (5) incorporates in its most lateral crossbar (7) two pairs of lugs (8) to which it joins, articulated through bolts (9), a skate (10) designed to facilitate the vertical sliding of the cage as a whole on the corresponding side of the ship, specifically through guides (11) operatively established in the latter.
- such guide (11) is materialized in a pair of grooved profiles, with a "U” section, with their concavities facing each other, while the skate (10) incorporates at each of its ends two pairs of wheels (12 ), with axes perpendicular to each other within each pair, so that such wheels ensure an optimal sliding of the skate, with a minimum coefficient of friction, both when it tends to rest on the bottom and on the side walls of the mentioned guides ( 11), maintaining at all times the skate (10) the most suitable position with respect to the side of the ship, due to the articulated joint, through the bolts (9), to the cage itself (1).
- At least one vacuum module (15) is established, which is also floating, which has a set of buoys (16), preferably in number of three, that support to a suction nozzle (17), associated with the corresponding pump, not shown in the drawings, by means of the corresponding conduit (18), a pump which, as in the example of practical embodiment represented in the figures, may be located on the cover of the vessel, but which could also be located on the upper area of the cage itself (1).
- This vacuum module (15) can be established absolutely independently within the cage itself (1), or be conveniently related to it, as shown in Figure 3, specifically by means of fasteners with sliding rollers (19) located in its anterior vertices, sliding on vertical rods (20) conveniently fixed to the front wall of the cage itself (1), outside its likewise front window (2), thus achieving that the vacuum module as a whole adopt at all times the most suitable positioning within the cage (1), while maintaining the most appropriate level so that the vacuum nozzle (17) fulfills its function.
- the vacuum nozzle (17) is mounted on the floating frame (15) of the vacuum module through a spindle (21) which allows positional adjustment of said nozzle (17), in order to regulate the "absorption layer" on water.
- the described system can be complemented with an auxiliary or complementary device, as shown in figure 3, where it can be seen how on one of the sides of the corresponding vessel (27) it includes the means already described and referenced with the number (22) for the articulation of the respective module (23) determinant of the controlled floating vacuum cleaner, module that has been represented in this case in a schematic way and that corresponds to that represented in figures 1 and 3, with their corresponding floats (6) and (6 1 ), and also equipped with the baffles (14) as in those figures.
- module (23) on each side of the ship (27) it can include a module (24) with floats (25) and (25 ') and with articulation means (22 ') to the side of the ship, so that that module represented in general with the number (24) is exactly the same in its external structure and in its way of linking to the ship (27), to the module (23) referred to above, but exempt from the vacuum system itself, such module (24) constituting a floating support to which the barriers (26) that are dragged by two tugs are directed direct the floating liquid that is intended to be collected towards that module (25), being this one that directs the totality of said floating liquid towards the module (23) constituting the controlled floating vacuum cleaner.
