Abstract

Compositions catalytiques à base de métaux de transition bidentés utiles dans la polymérisation par coordination de monomères d'alpha-oléfines. La préparation des nouveaux composés catalytiques consiste: (1) à faire réagir un trihalogénure de métaux de transition, un trialcoxyde de métaux de transition ou un tri(halogénure/alcoxyde) mélangé, ou les additifs de ces matières à des bases de Lewis, avec deux équivalents d'un ligand de chélation bidenté; ou (2) à faire réagir deux équivalents de trischélates (+3) de métaux de transition identiques ou différents comportant un équivalent d'un trihalogénure de métaux de transition ou son additif avec des bases de Lewis. Les ligands de chélation de l'invention sont ceux qui contiennent au moins deux, et de préférence pas plus de deux, hétéroatomes tels que O, N, P ou S, séparés par un radical hydrocarbure permettant d'obtenir une longueur de chaîne suffisante de manière à permettre aux deux hétéroatomes de procéder à la chélation du même atome de métal. Le ligand de chélation doit avoir au moins un ion positif pouvant être facilement retiré, lequel est perdu lors de la chélation afin de permettre d'obtenir un ligand uninégatif bidenté.
