Abstract
The invention relates to the structure and glazing of a glass roof or a glass facade which are designed in order to take advantage of the architectural qualities of the external adhered glazing and the behaviour and durability qualities of the respirating isolation glazing. The isolation glazing is comprised of an external glass (3) which is adhered to a frame (1) and an internal glass (4) which is made integral with the frame (1) by means of a water vapor permeable seal (5). The isolation glazing thus formed is punctually or continuously integral with the bearing structure by means of an H-shaped seal (8) of which the major part is inserted in the thickness of the glazing. The sealing between adjacent glazings is provided by means of a continuous U-shaped seal (13) completed or not by an elastomer seal (14) cast in situ between the external glasses. The assembly thus implemented forms at the periphery of the glasses a channel (B) containing outside air and a channel (C) for draining any water infiltration.
Description
Façade ou toiture verrière à face extérieure lisse et structure intégrée au vitrage Glass facade or roof with smooth exterior face and structure integrated into the glazing
The construction of glass facades and glass roofs is done, either for aesthetic reasons or for ease of maintenance, more and more often using the technique known as bonded exterior glazing (VEC). In the case of insulating canopies, the most frequently used glazing is an insulating glazing comprising at its periphery an assembly joint which is waterproof against water vapor to contain and maintain between two windows a layer of dehydrated air and to exclude risks of condensation on the internal faces of the windows. The minimum conditions for implementing this type of glazing according to the VEC technique lead to provisions, of the frame which supports them and of their watertight junction, which removes a large part of its aesthetic quality from the process. Furthermore, this type of structure is most frequently supported by a light structure, the deformation of which leads to constraints of the glazing incompatible with the durability, by nature already limited, of water vapor tight seals. , and consequently, the durability of the insulating glass itself.
A more recent technique stemming from studies of the CSTB (Scientific and Technical Center for Building) and called breathable insulating glass excludes the drawbacks specific to insulating glazing waterproof to water vapor. The present invention relates to a combination of techniques, breathable insulating glazing, and glued exterior glazing, in the context of the construction of glass facades and roofs. Clean: to increase the durability of this type of structure, to reduce - or even eliminate - the bulk of the supporting structure of the glazing beneath it, to allow the interposition of a sunbreaker between the two windows of the insulating glazing, and, for equal thickness glass products used, to increase the performance of the structure in terms of sound insulation. To achieve these results, according to a first arrangement of the invention, the insulating glazing consists of the assembly of two windows, or any other product of the same use, on either side of a profile frame, metallic or other, of such mechanical dimensions and characteristics, that it constitutes with the exterior glass to which it is secured by gluing, a set capable of transferring the external loads applied to the glazing on specific supports located â each of its four angles. In the case where one - see the two dimensions of the glazing would lead to a height of the profile incompatible with the insulating function of the air space, the point supports may be replaced by continuous supports. According to a second arrangement of the invention, the interior glass of the insulating glazing may be secured to the intermediate frame by an adhesive seal on its two faces, made of cellular foam permeable to water vapor, or any other material of the same use. . In this case, the migration of water vapor towards the outside, which constitutes the principle of operation of the insulating glazing, will take place through this peripheral seal. The interior window can also be secured to the ca¬ dre by other means, and in particular by gluing, over all or part of its periphery. This arrangement will, in the case of exceptional glazing loads or dimensions, for example, significantly increase the mechanical characteristics of the product. In this case, the migration of water vapor may require the addition of holes in the wall of the frame fitted with dust filters.
According to a third arrangement of the invention, the profile forming the frame will have a general U-shape. The wing of this U located towards the outside will constitute the bonding face of the exterior glass. The wing located inwards will be used for the ground i darisati on, punctual or continuous, of the insulating glazing to the load-bearing structure of the canopy. According to a fourth arrangement of the invention, the outer wing of the profile constituting the frame will include the means of fixing - a groove for example - a polycl oroprene seal or other material of the same use. This U-shaped joint, made up of a continuous mesh, will ensure a watertight connection between the adjacent panes. Depending on the position of the glazing, this seal will constitute either the first sealing barrier - in the case of vertical glazing, for example - or the secondary barrier if an elastomeric seal is poured in situ between the exterior windows to form a face smooth and continuous, or between the intermediate frames or the masifs of bonding the external glass if a hollow joint is preferred. According to another arrangement of the invention, the idari sation of the insulating glazing units to the load-bearing structure will be effected by means of a polycarbonate or other material of the same use, in the form of an H. interior, the joint by which it is ground i-darisée to the intermediate frame as well as the inner wing of this same frame will be maintained between the wings of the H-joint. To do this, the part of the H-joint tour¬ born outwardly will include a removable key allows o both a 90 rotation of each of the half-wings of the H so that the glazing can be introduced en¬ be them or that on the contrary the seal in H itself can be introduced between two glazings already used. The H-shaped joint will have on its inside-facing side the means of its idari sati on ground at the point, point or continuous, of the supporting structure, - anchoring studs in the grooves of an al¬ section aluminum bonding for example -. The polycloprene seal can be replaced by two profiles - metal¬ for example - assembled to form the H shape of the previous one and fitted with seals to assume all of its functions. According to a final arrangement of the invention, the channels situated between the external U-shaped seal and the structuring seal in H, remain open at the top and bottom edges of the facade so that it settles - naturally or with the assistance of appropriate mechanical means - at the periphery of each of the glazings, a flow of outside air capable of absorbing the excess of water vapor migrating from the air space contained between the windows.

We see firstly in these drawings the components of the insulating glazing proper, and in particular: -the intermediate frame made of aluminum profile (1) so¬ lidarized by the high-modulus silicone bonding joint (2 ) outside window (3),
The insulating glass thus formed is delivered as is to the construction site.
The same drawings show how the water vapor contained in the air space (A) migrates through the seal (5) or the filter (6) to ensure equilibrium with the external air flow circulating in the peripheral channel (B).
Les dessins montrent encore:The drawings also show:
P-the H-shaped seal (8) fixed on the supports (9), here continuous, of the supporting structure and its key (10) for locking the fixing of the insulating glazing, -the H-shaped seal (11) used in the case where the intermediate frame (1) is self-supporting between point supports s, -the vertical wedging device (12), of the insulating glazing proper on the supporting structure. The insulating glazing is here first placed on its lateral supports and then secured to them by the installation of the key (10) of the seal (8). The next step is to install the seal (11) between the self-supporting sides of the insulating glass. P
The drawings also show the different forms of the watertight connection of the exterior windows which use the mesh formed from the U-shaped joint (13) which constitutes, as the case may be: either the first sealing barrier,
We see to conclude: -to meet the first objective, all the support device, ventilation and drainage of the canopy fits into the thickness of the insulating glass and significantly reduces the en¬ space, -that the height of the air gap included between the windows gives the insulating glazing, and all other things being equal, the best performance in terms of acoustic insulation and allows the integration of a solar shading which will thus be sheltered from attacks from both outside and inside. -that the aesthetic qualities of the glued exterior glazing are exploited without any concession due to both the small footprint of the structure and the elimination of the usual spacer joint adjoining the adhesive mass of the exterior glass, -none parasitic stress is not likely to compromise the durability of the structure.
