Description

We know that in terms of housing, we designate under the name of "Mezzanine" a room which occupies halfway up only part of the surface of a room and which opens laterally into it. Such a system proves to be very advantageous in practice because it allows - the production of an additional part. However, the creation of a mezza¬ nine obviously presupposes the provision of a room with high ceilings so that the occupants have, below the floor of the mezzanine as above it, d 'Sufficient space for normal standing. However, we know that modern construction limits the ceiling heights.
It is to this drawback that the present invention intends to remedy, which consists in producing the mezzanine floor in the form of a chassis in the form of a quadrilateral which is supported in the vicinity of the angles of its profile by four columns and which is associated with a lifting mechanism capable of allowing the modification of the height of said chassis above the floor of the room in question. In accordance with a particularly advantageous embodiment of the above arrangement, the lifting mechanism is constituted by a geared motor which drives two parallel horizontal shafts - at each end of which is mounted a pinion meshing with a rack and pinion teeth provided on the corresponding column. The appended drawing, given by way of example, will allow a better understanding of the invention, the characteristics which it presents and its advantage; that it is likely to provide: - Fig.l is a perspective view illustrating the general arrangement of a mezzanine according to the invention, shown before the installation of the floor covering on the frame which forms the movable floor. Fig.2 is a vertical section on a larger scale showing the con¬ formation of one of the four columns. - Fig 3 and 4 are horizontal sections along the respective respective plans indicated in III-III and IV-IV in fig.2.
Fig.5 and 6 illustrate the use of the mezzanine according to fig.l to 4. As schematically shown in Fig.l, the floor of the mezzanine is formed by a frame 1, with a practically square profile in the example - of realization considered, which is supported at its corners by four columns 2, the base of which is fixed to the floor of the room containing the mezzanine. In the envisaged construction, this chassis 1 is consisting of four irons 3 with a C profile open towards the inside, these irons being suitably braced with side members 4 and crosspieces 5. As more particularly shown in fig. 2 to 4, each of the four columns 2 is itself constituted by a section 6 with a C section which opens in the direction of the chassis 1 and on one of the two lateral wings of which is fixed, for example to using screws such as 7 (see fig. 3) a rack tooth 8 oriented vertically. This toothing 8 meshes with a pinion 9 wedged at the end of a small horizontal 0-shaft 10, it will be noted that on each side of each end pinion 9 the shaft 10 supports, by the intermediate bearings such as 11, two guide rollers 12 which roll against the internal wall of the two wings of the profile 6 envisaged. Each of the two shafts 10 which are arranged at the same iron 3 5- is joined to the same shaft 14, with the interposition of an angular setting device 13. As shown in fig.l, each shaft 14 passes through a casing 15 inside which is housed a bevel gear for its drive by a central shaft 16, itself associated with a gear motor 17 capable of rotating in both directions. It is understood that 0- the proper powering up of the motor of this geared motor 17 as¬ ensures the vertical displacement, in one direction or the other, of the frame 1 along the columns 2, the prior adjustment of the devices 13 allowing a precise horizontal alignment of the whole of said frame. 5- In Fig. 5 and 6, there is shown in 18 and 19 the floor, respectively the ceiling, of the room which contains the envisaged mezzanine, the height under ceiling of said room having been shown in H. It is conceivable that the vertical displacement of the frame 1 of the mezzanine , with the furniture which the latter supports, allows the said chassis to be brought to the high position illustrated in FIG. 5 for which the user has, below this chassis 1, a height hl little lower than H, ie in the lower position of fig.6 for which the frame 1, lowered to just overcome the furniture in the lower room, defines a height under ceiling h.2 of the same order of magnitude as hl. 5- The mezzanine is thus capable of being fitted out in premises with a relatively low ceiling height H, which would not otherwise lend itself to the construction of the intermediate floor fixed from a classic mezzanine.
In order to avoid the unattractive appearance of the lower space of each column 2 of the assembly, it is advantageous to have recourse to a cover constituted by a length of fabric or of plastic material - 20 (fig. 1 4) which is looped on itself in the manner of an endless ban¬ and which is returned by two pulleys 21 mounted idly on horizontal axes 22, which are fixed transversely to the two lateral wings of the profile 6, at level of the ends of the column 2. That of the two strands of each cover 20 which is placed facing 0- to the opening of the profile 6 which forms each column 2 is made integral with the corresponding shaft 10, so that when the frame or floor 1 of the mezzanine moves vertically between the posi¬ tions according to fig.5 and 6, this cover moves itself by permanently closing the vertical opening of the profile 6. 5- It It goes without saying that one could imagine other mechanisms elé fans to ensure the vertical movement of the chassis 1. It should also be noted that it can have any profile in plan, depending on the conformation of the room which is intended to receive the mezzanine. It should moreover be understood that the foregoing description has only been given by way of example and that it in no way limits the field of the invention from which one would not depart by replacing the 2- details of execution described by all other equivalents.
