- the armor layer cannot be made as thick as desired, because only a maximum of about three welding layers, each about 3 mm thick, can be welded onto one another to form an overall maximum of about 9 mm thick armor layer. If the number of weld layers built up on top of one another from the hard armor material were increased, there is a risk that the armor layer would crack and possibly at least partially flake off due to the stresses. A layer of armor of z. B. only 9 mm thick is worn out comparatively quickly if, with the appropriately armored rollers, the above-mentioned material bed comminution of very hard materials such as, for.
