Abstract

This metal bracelet is comprised of elements which are hinged to each other and which may look as in the left hand side or in the right hand side of the drawing. Each of those elements comprises a body (1) carrying the hinge pins (2, 3) of its articulation hinges to adjacent elements. A thin piece (4, 9) is welded or glued on top of the body (1). It has the double advantage to hide the hinges cooperating with those of the adjacent elements and to be cut out so as to allow the insertion of a decorative piece (6, 10).

In the known bracelets of the type defined by the preamble of claim 1, the articulation of the elements between them is usually carried out by hinges. To justify the cost of these braces, which is a multiple of that of leather bracelets, it is not enough to make them durable; it is also necessary to look after its appearance. For this, it is above all important to camouflage the joints, that is to say to make them invisible when the bracelet is worn.

There are several solutions that perfectly meet this condition. The known solutions, however, all have the drawback that the elements making up the bracelet do not have simple shapes. This results in laborious machining of these elements, which must be carried out with care so that operation is guaranteed and the aesthetics satisfactory.

The bracelet defined by the characteristic of claim 1 avoids the aforementioned drawback. The joints are camouflaged by thin ornamental pieces, which can therefore be formed by simple cutting and which it is easy to fix to the bodies elements of the brael, which can themselves be manufactured without complication, due to their simple geometric shape.

In the special embodiments defined by the CLAIMS 2, it suffices to subject the exposed face of said thin parts to specific termination operations to give the bracelet the desired appearance, since these parts completely cover the body of the elements. of the bracelet and are therefore only visible when worn. In accordance with the features defined by claim 3, these thin parts can even play the role of protective shield for the elements of the bracelet, making its appearance practically inaliéna¬ ble.

The embodiments defined by claim 4 take advantage of the possibility offered by thin plates, to cut into the latter a central opening, which makes it possible to mount a ₍ decorative piece, for example a corundum, on the bracelet elements.

As for the frame defined by claim 5, it has the advantage of protecting from edges the edges of a piece of sintered hard metal, mounted on the element of the bracelet, inside this frame.

Two embodiments of the bracelet according to the invention are shown schematically and simply by way of example in the drawing in which:

Fig. 1 represents, in its left part, an element of the bracelet according to the first embodiment in exploded perspective, and, in its right part, an element of the bracelet according to the second embodiment, and

Fig. 2 is a cross section of two adjacent elements of the bracelet according to this second embodiment.

The element of the bracelet according to the first embodiment, shown in FIG. 1, comprises a flat rectangular body 1, on the longitudinal edges of which the hinge hinges 2, 3 are welded. Instead of applying these hinges against concave edges, as shown in the drawing, they could just as well be welded against flat edges.

A thin piece 4, also flat, is fixed over the body 1, to which it is secured by adhesion. Depending on the materials of the body 1 and of the part 4, this bonding can be carried out for example by welding or bonding the surfaces in contact or by electric welding spots.

Part 4 has the same length as body 1, but is wider, so as to extend at least approximately up to above the axis of the hinges 2, 3. Its visible upper surface is subjected to termination operations intended to give it a distinct appearance, replacing the bracelet. An opening 5 is cut in the central part of the part 4. As a result, its angles can be sharp; but any shape with rounded parts can obviously be given to it. A decorative piece 6 takes place in the opening 5. The lower edge 7 of this piece 6 is prismatic. Its maker is equal to the thickness of the part 4. In its upper part, the part 6 has bevels 8, inclined enough to offer no grip to foreign bodies with which the bracelet can come into contact. so accidental.

Preferably, the part 6 will be made of a hard material, for example corundum. It can however * also be made of precious metal. As for the ornamental piece 4, all the metals which lend themselves to cutting are usable; however, choose one that is hard enough so that its visible face does not change too quickly when worn. The body 1, for its part, can be made for example of stainless steel or of chromed or plated brass. Precious metals can also be used for the body 1 and the ornamental piece 4.

As a variant, the ornamental piece 4 can also be full and cover the entire upper face of the body 1. In this case, its upper face may not be planar. It can for example have beveled angles or be curved. In this variant, the part 4 can be made of hard metal.

The right part of FIG. 1 shows the second form • of execution, which differs from the first only by the ornamental elements. In this second embodiment, the ornamental piece fixed by adhesion to the body 1, above its outer face, is constituted by a frame 9, relatively narrow, whose outer contour is the same as that of the piece 4 of the first embodiment. A decorative piece 10 made of hard metal is inserted into the frame 9. The edges 11 of its part located above the frame 9 are bevelled, to avoid scratches.

Fig. 2 represents two elements articulated to each other of the

bracelet according to the second embodiment. They are connected to each other by a pin 12, engaged in the hinges 2, 3 of said elements. We see in this figure that when the bracelet is flat, the outer edges of the frames 9 touch. When the bracelet is worn, these edges move away from each other somewhat, but not enough for the hinges to become visible.

Claims

CLAIMS:

1. Metallic bracelet, comprising a series of elements hinged together, characterized in that each of these elements comprises a body (1) of simple geometrical shape, which carries the articulation members (2, ^' 3 ) to neighboring elements, and a thin ornamental piece (4, 9) which is fixed to said body by adhesion and extends above its external face, so as to cover at least the periphery and to camouflage the organs of hinge (2, 3).

2. Bracelet according to claim 1, characterized in that the exposed face of said ornamental piece is finished so as to constitute the whole of the visible face of said element, that this piece completely covers.

3. Bracelet according to claim 1 or claim 2, characterized in that said ornamental piece is made of hard metal.

4. Bracelet according to claim 1, characterized in that said ornamental piece is constituted by a plate (4), the central part (5) of which is cut so as to serve as a housing for a decorative piece 6.

5. Bracelet according to claim 1, characterized in that said ornamental piece forms a frame (9) in which is fixed a decorative piece (10) for protecting said element.
