Abstract

Método transgenético para producir frutos con semillas más pequeñas o con número reducido de semillas. Implica la expresión temporal de un gen citotóxico o combinación de genes cuyo objetivo es detener el desarrollo de la semilla en un tiempo suficiente luego de la polinización, tal que el desarrollo y maduración del fruto sea normal aunque lo bastante temprana en el desarrollo de la semilla como para que la maduración de la semilla por sí se reduzca al mínimo. También incluye construcciones transgénicas, vectores y métodos para producción de plantas que dan frutos con semillas más pequeñas o muy pocas semillas.
