To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUs W. FLEISCH- MANN, of Williamsburg, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Design for Mottoes; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full,,clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reterence marked thereqn, which form a part of this specification.
The nature of this design is fully illustrated in the accompanying drawing; and consists in the formation of the words of the motto by the composition of single wood letters or words on a sawed-out pattern of wood of different color, and in the decoration of the wood work with artificial or natural vines, ferns, or flowers, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the drawing, A represents a sawed-out pattern of wood consisting of a scroll, anchor, and chain.
On this sawed-out pattern are glued or otherwise fastened suitable letters B to form the motto. These letters are sawed out singly of wood of a different color from that of the wood pattern, either darker or lighter, or may be joined or sawed out to form words suitable for mottoes. O 0 represents vines, ferns, or flowers-,-either natural or artificial-wound in any suitable manner on the wood-work for decorating the same.
The entire motto thus completed is intended to be framed and put under glass in any suitable manner.
Having thus fully described this invention, what is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is
The design for a motto consisting of the scroll, anchor, and chain A, with ferns, vines, or flowers G, the said scroll bearing a motto in letters of a different color from the back ground, all being grouped and arranged substantially in the manner described, and shown in the accompanying drawing.
