0. F. FOGELSTR FLOWER AND. -P0'1 BRACKET.
No. 9,702. Patented Jan. 16. 1877.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OTTO F. FOGELSTRAND, OF KENSINGTON, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO HART, BLIVEN & MEAD MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR FLOWER-POT BRACKETS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,702, dated January l6, 1877; application filed October 25. 1876. [Term of Patent 7 years.\
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OTTO F. FOGELSTRAND, of Kensington, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented, originat ed, and designed a new Design for a Flower- Pot Bracket, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, making part of this specification.
The nature of my design is fully represented in the accompanying drawing, to which reference is made.
A represents the base, B the bracket proper or shelf-supporting arm, and O the shelf. Upon the front of the base A there is a projection, the front/edge of which is rounded, giv-.
ing the projection somewhat the appearance of the back of a book. The contour of said base is composed of straight and curved lines. the latter meeting in a point at the top and bottom, and the former running parallel to 4 each other along the vertical sides.
At the top junction of the sides and ends the contour follows a convex line, justwithiu which are the screw-holes, as shown, and at the-lower junction of sides and end the contour follows a concave line. The face of the base is ornamented in relief, all as shown. The contour of the bracketB is composed mainly of curved lines, the whole forming what might be termed an S, placed horizontally, and the outer end pointing upward to meet the shelf 0. The space inclosed by the downward hook of the S is filled in with open-work scroll-bars, as shown. The bracket is bordered by a raised ledge, and, leading from said border, at the junction of it and the open scroll-bars, a curved bar extends across the body of the bracket and branching into two scrolls. The sun":- surface inside these scrolls is ornamented by fine radiating grooves or fluting. The remainder of the bracket is also ornamented by raised work on a roughened ground. The central portion of the shelf 0 is cup-shaped, and the rest is saucer-shaped. The under side of the shelf, outside the cup-shaped portion, is openwork, the openings in which are five-sided and are separated from each other by radial bars. A portion of the said five-sided openings are covered by fine ornamental work. The under side of the shelf is ornamented in relief, as shown, the ornaments under the rim being mainly straight bars crossing each other in diamond form.
1 claim as my invention-- 1. In a flower-pot bracket, the design for the shelf 0, consisting essentially of the sancer-shaped shelf, with cup-shaped center, and the five-sided openings, separatedby radial bars and partially covered by fine ornamental work, the under side of the shelf being ornamented in relief, all substantially as described.
2. The design for a [lower-pot bracket, consistin g of the base A,ornamented as described, the bracket B in 8 form, the upturned end of which is surmounted by the shelf 0, all sub stautially as shown and described.
