Description

Des. 94,785
March 5, 1935- E. M. SPLAINE OPHTHALMIC MOUNTING Filed Dec. 18, 1933 Patented Mar. 5, 1935 UNITED STATES Des. 94,785
PATENT OFFICE DESIGN FOR AN OPHTHALMIC MOUNTIN Application December 18, 1933, Serial No. 50,110
Term of patent 14 years To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Edward M. Splaine, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Southbridge, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for an Ophthalmic Mounting, of which the following is a specification, reference being made to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
Fig. I is an enlarged perspective view of an ophthalmic mounting showing my new design;
Fig. II is a fragmentary front elevation of the design shown in Fig. I; and
Fig. III is a fragmentary sectional view taken on line III-III of Fig. II.
The dominant feature of the design resides in the contour of the bridge, as shown in full lines in the drawing.
The bridge is shown as applied to a spectacle of the conventional shape only by way of illustration. It is to be understood that such a bridge may be used with spectacles having other general characteristics which are different from that iilustrated.
The bridge embodying the design as shown in the drawing is of the form fit type having the ends of the central arch portion curving rearwardly to loops which are shaped to fit the bridge of the nose. The ends of the loops are bent forwardly to substantially the same plane as the central arch portion wherein the said ends are bent downwardly to produce relatively long depending side portions. The depending side portions have their greatest width lying substantially in the plane of the central arch portion. These various portions will be readily visible to the observer, said side portions are turned rear- Wardly and are substantially invisible when the mounting is viewed from the front.
The depending portions and the lower edge of the central arch portion are placed in close relation with each other to substantially close the space between the forward ends of the loops producing the effect of a continuous arch shaped bridge.
I claim:
The ornamental design for an ophthalmic mounting substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature.
EDWARD M. SPLAINE.
