PATENT OFFICE l y103,437- DESIGN Foa AN orHTHALMIc MOUNTING Joel Cheney Wells, Southbridge, Mass., assignor to American Optical Company, Southbridge, Mass., a voluntary'association of Massachusetts Application January 23, 1936, Serial No. 60,749
Term of patent 14 years To all whom it may concern.'
. Be it known that I, Joel Cheney Wells, a citizen of the United States, residing at Southbridge, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new, original, and ornamental Design for an Ophthalmic Mounting, of which the following is a specification, reference being made to the accompanying drawing forming a part thereof.
This application is a continuation in part of my copending application Serial No. D. 54,397, iiled December 12, 1934.
Fig. I is an enlarged fragmentary perspective View of an ophthalmic mounting showing the dominant feature of my design in full 'lines as applied to the lens holding rim of a conventional frame type mounting illustrated in dotted lines.
Fig. II is a complete plan view of the conventional mounting shown in Fig. I with the characteristic features of the design shown in full lines.
Fig. III is a partial front view of Fig. I. The dominant feature of the present design is shown in solidlines, and broadly comprises an arm which is shaped adjacent one end thereof to be secured to the rear of the lens supportingrim and to extend rearwardly from its point of attachment in a direction substantially normal to the plane of the rear of the lens rim, then to turn outwardly with a relatively sharp angle at a point substantially spaced to the rear of the plane of the lens supporting rims and terminating in a portion forming a temple hinge connection. 'I'he outwardly extending portion is shaped tocurve rearwardly and blend with an attached temple along the outer faces thereof. The arm is of substantially the same width throughout its length and is provided with upper and lower contour edges which blend with the similar adjacent edges of the temple so as to produce a streamline effeet.
I claim: The ornamental design for an ophthalmic mounting substantially as shown and described.
JOEL CHENEY WELLS.
