UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE TEMPLE FOR SPECTACLES OR THE LIKE Edward M. Splaine, Southbridge, Mass., assignor to American Optical Company, Southbridge, Mass., a voluntary association of Massachusetts To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Edward M. Splaine, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Southbridge, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new, original and ornamental Design for a Temple for Spectacles or the like, of which the following is a specification, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.

Fig. 1 is a side elevational view of a temple for spectacles, showing my new design;

Fig. 2 is a top plan view of the temple shown in Fig. 1;

Fig. 3 is an enlarged cross-sectional view thereof taken on lines 33 of Fig. 1; and

Fig. 4 is a fragmentary plan view of the temple in a partly folded position.

The essential features of my design for a temple for spectacles or the like reside in the parts shown in full lines, the fragment of a spectacle frame shown in broken lines being for illustrative purposes only, the design being characterized by an inwardly curving end portion which extends slightly forward of the point of the temple connection and whose upper and lower contours taper toward each other and by a pivot on its inner surface located rearwardly of the said inwardly curving end portion of the temple.

I claim:

The ornamental design for a temple for spectacles or the like, substantially as shown and described.
