Abstract
466,620. Spectacle lenses. WINGATE. G. H., and HAMBLIN, Ltd., T. Feb. 11, 1936, No. 4152. [Class 97 (i)] A spectacle lens particularly intended to be used in cases of aphakia comprises a portion 1 having a power of + 8D. or more and of meniscus shape formed about a spherical curve X whose centre approximately coincides with the centre of rotation of the eye, and a portion 2 of different curvature enabling the lens to be carried in a normal frame or giving it a normal outline when worn. The portion 2 may, as in Fig. 5, be inclined forwardly so as to bring the effective part of the lens nearer to the eye. Fig. 6 shows a form in which the lens is extended on the temple side T, the field covering substantially the whole lens. If a rim is used in mounting this form, it is bent back on the temple side to suit the margin of the lens. The radius of the curve X is from 22 to 28 mm.
