WILLIAM S. WHITMAN, OF BANGOR, MAINE.
DESIGN FOR RANGES.
Specification forming part of Design-No. 8,568, dated August 17, 1875 application led July 24, 1875. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM S. WHITMAN, of Bangor, in the county of Penobscot and State of Maine, have invented a Design for a Range, of which the following is a specification:
The nature of my design is fully represented in the accompanying photographic illustration, to which reference is made.
It is applicable and intended for use either with or without the hot-closet attachment, which is shown at a, and includes the molding b. Vhen this attachment is not used the body c of the range is set upon the base d.
The illustration shows a View of the front e of my range, and also of one side, f, containing the draft-doors, &c.
The general design of the ornamentation consists' of geometrical figures, the doors and panels being surrounded by moldings g, (distinctl y shown,) and aborder of Grecian pattern, h, surrounding a panel, t'. The large ovendoor j contains the name-plate k, having there- 0n the Words Queen City, While the center of the smaller doors l m n o and the panels, as
at p, are ornamented by a stripe of interlaced Work, q, which, in the doors, is placed upon a small panel, "A Thisinterlaced work may also be used to ornament the body of the stove, as at s t. The other side ofthe range (not shown) is of the same general design, While the back 1s as common.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The design for a range, as herein described.
2. The design for a range and hot-closet, combined as shown and described.
3. The design for the large door, as shown.
4. The design for the smaller door, having small panel 1' thereon, ornanlented with interlaced work q, as shown.
