Design No. 4,881, dated May 9, 1871.
DESIGN FOR A CARPET-PATTERN.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
I, ALFRED HEALD, of Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented or pro duced a Design for a Carpet-Pattern, of which the following is a specification.
The ligure in the accompanying drawings represents sniiicient of a carpet-pattern to illustrate the design, which consists, mainly, of members A and B, and of the intervening space C, the latter' itselfappearing in the drawings to form a large four-armed figure.
The members A and B are of the same size and shape, and differ only in their interior ornamentation.
Each member A has in the center a diagonal bar, a, and at each end of thelattera small figure, b, there being, also, diagonal rows of small spots, c, all of the character represented.
The interior ot' each member Bis occupied by foliated ornaments (I, and by short diagonal bars e combined with the same, as shown.
The space C, which should be of a shade differing from that of the members A and B, is occupied by a central ornament, f, and by four square or diamondshaped figures g, surrounding the said ornament, the
latter, as well as the said figures, being of acharacter too clearly shown in the drawings to require minute description.
Irrespective of the colors employed,
I claiml. The design for the members A, substantially as shown and described.
The design i'or the members B, substantially as described and represented.
3. The design for the space C between the members A and B, with its ornaments fandg.
4. The design for the whole pattern, including thc members A and B and the ornamented space G.
