DESIGN FOR A CARPET-PATTERN.

I, ALFRED HEALD, of Philadelphia, county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented or produced a Design for a Carpet-Pattern, of which the following is a specification.

rIhe design is fully represented in the accompanying drawings, and consists, mainly, of large members, A and B, surrounded by and contained within a border, D.

The latter is ornamented in the manner clearly represented in the drawings, and is expanded at regular intervals, so as to form diamond-shaped figures, F, and smaller square flgures, H, each figure F having a central ornament, a, and a diamond-shaped spot, b, at each of its four corners, and the figures H having each a central ornament, c.

Each ofthe members A contains a large central ornament, J, the outline of which is formed by an angular border, d, and from the latter at regular intervals spring branches e.

Each member B contains a large diamond-shaped ignre, K, around which are arranged fourfoliated ornaments, g.

The ligure K has a border, h, ofthe peculiar character shown, and the interior of the gure is separated by rows of diamond-shaped spots crossing each other at right angles into nine equal spaces, within each of which is arranged a large spot or cross, t'. rIhe intermediate spots i should be of a shade or color differing from those at the corners and in the center of the iigure.
