Description

tiled@ NELSON MERRIAM, OF WEST MERIDEN, CONNECTICUT.
Design No. 4,502, dated December 6, 1870.
DESIGN FOR A DRAWER-PULL.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all lwhomit may concern:
Be it known that I, NELSON MERRIAM, of West Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Drawer- Pull; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents in igure 1, a top view of the knob extended or raised; an 1n Figure 2, a side view of the same, the knob dropped in broken lines.
This invention relates to a design for that class of drawer-pulls in which the knob is pivoted to the socket fixed to the front of the drawer, so that when the knob is not required for use it will hang down in a perpendicular position; and consists in the peculiar form of the jointed portion of the knob, as fully shown in the accompanying illustration, and as hereafter described.
A is the knob, to which is fixed or formed a spherical end, a.
This spherical end is placed between the two arms, d, of a yoked socket, B, and pivoted in the said yoke so as to fall from the position in figs. 1 and 2 to that in broken lines, fig. 2.
This peculiar-formed head, while it adds materially to the appearance of the pull, has also a certain degree of' utility, in that a broad socket or long joint is formed, which is much stronger than the usual hingeI in this class of pulls.
I claim as my invention- The design for drawer-pull herein described, cousisting of the peculiar-shaped connection between the head and socket, as herein described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
NELSON MERRIAM.
