DESIGN FOR A LEAD-PENCIL.
Application filed December 9, 1910. Serial No. 596,545.
To all whom t may concern: l
Be it known that I, SAMUEL KRAUS, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, county and State of New York, have invented a new, original, and ornament-al Design for Lead-Pencils, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a. part thereof.
Figure l is a perspective view of a lead pencil exhibiting the design. Fig. Q. is an end elevation of the same.
The design consists of two sets of stripes a and b which follow a spiral path around the pencil from end to end thereof. The stripes a are spirally coiled in a direction Specification for Design.

opposite to that in which the stripes Z) are coiled, so that the two intersect each other at regular intervals forming at their intersections diamond shaped figures c, which are bounded by the stripes. Each stripe a or Z) is composed of a plurality of parallel juxtapositioned lines, impressed into the wood which forms the pencil sheath, and of a color contrasting wi-th that of the sheath.
I claim- The ornamental design for a lead pencil as shown and described.
