EMERY PARKER, OF NEW BRITAIN, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO RUSSELL AND ERWIN MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACF.
DESIGN FOR A STRIKBR-PLATE FOR A LOCK.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same To all whom it nuty concern:
Be it known that I, EMERY PARKER, of New Britain, in the county of Hartford, and State of Connecticut, have originated a new Design fora Striker-Plate for a lock or latch; and I do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the drawings, making a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
A striker-plate for a lock, comprehends not only the projecting lip A, with a rounded edge, a, against which the bevel-face of the latch first strikes as the door shuts, but, also, the keepers B and C, for the latch and bolt respectively. It is also of sufficient length to admit of one or more screw-holes b, at each end, through which screws are inserted to fasten the plate to the jamb.
The edge of the plate is surrounded by a raised band, a, which intersects with the plain surface of the plate immediately surrounding the keeper-mortise B of the latch. A similar raised band, d, surrounds the keeper-mortise for the bolt. The distinctive appearance of a sunken panel is thus given to the plate, in harmony with the design for a look-front heretofore patented by me, and with locks of which character, this plate is proposed to be used.
\Vhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a striker-plate, substantially as herein described and shown in the drawings.
EMERY PARKER.
