Figure 1 is a face view of our new design as embodied in the handle of a spoon, and Fig. 2 a rear view of the same.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of our design consists in the representation in relief of water-lilies and leaves. In detail it is as follows: The handle consists of a head A, an adjacent swelled 2o portion 13, andastem C. The representation of a water-lily a with surrounding leaves I), c, and d form the head ornamentation. The leaf d above the lily is folded to form a pointed termination of the head. The swelled portion B has thereon the representation of a water-lily e overlying leaves The beadingis formed by representations of lily-stems. One marginal bead is formed by the stem g of a lily-bud h, terminating at the base of the head A. The stem C of the handle is orna- 3o mented by a lily-budc', surmounted byacluster of leaves j, whose stem m forms a portion of the marginal beading. At the base of the stem is a leaf-cluster n.
The rear of the spoon-handle is provided with a marginal heading of slenderleaves 7a, which slightly radiate as they proceed from the base to the head of the handle, where they terminate.
It is evident that our design is applicable 40 to the handles of articles other than but similar to those of spoons.
