DESIGN FOR A CAN OR JAR.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,412, dated December 10, 1901- Applicativn filed November 1 01- Serial No. 82,779. Term of patent 14. years.

To all whom it may concern.-

Beit known that 1, WILLIAM A. LORENZ, a citizen of the United States, residing in Hartford, in the county of Hartford and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Cans or Jars, of which the following is a specification.

My design relates to the external contour of cans, jars, and similar receptacles.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a top view, and Fig. 2 is a side View, of a can or jarernbodying my design.

The jar is approximately cylindrical in contour, the body portion 3 having a neck or reduced portion 4 at its upper end. Above this neck thejar is provided with a narrow annularprojectingbaud 5, approximately equal to the body of thejar in diameter. This band 5 is surmounted bya top which is smaller in diameter than the band and comprises the comparatively narrow annular bands 6 and 7, the .latter of which is smaller in diameter than the former. These bands are separated by an intervening peripheral groove 8, which is substantially semicircularin cross-sectional outline.

Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The design for a can or jar, substantially as shown and described.
