Description

intimi (States EDMUND BIGELOW, OF SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS.
Design No. 3,510, dated .func l, 1869.
DESIGN FOR A SODA-FOUNTAIN.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom it 'may concern:
Be it known that I, EDMUND B1GnLow,of Springfield, in the State of Massachusetts, have invented a new Design for the Outside Gase of a Soda and Sirup- Fountain, or Stand, termed The Mansard Cottagel*`ountain; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference heilig had to the annexed drawing, making part of this specification, which drawing represents a perspective view.
My said design for the outside case of a soda and Sirup-fountain consists in forlning the said case in the style of a Mansard cottage-house.
In the annexed drawinga and b represent the front and one end of a case for a soda and Sirup-fountain.
This case is made of' marble. It is of' oblong form, and oi' a sufficient height to answer the purpose required.
The two ends are formed alike, with a panel, c, each panel containing an ornamental frame, d, cut in relief, iu the centre of which is a representation of the sun setting behind a sheet of water.
The front and rear sides of the case do not extend up as high as the ends, and the two ends are formed, at their upper part, similar to the ends of a Mansard cottage, as represented in the drawing, so that the cover, or roof f, may incline from the front and back toward the centre of the case.
rlhe top part g of the cover is made flat, and provided with a railing, h, all around, so that bottles, fi, oiperflnnery and other articles may be set within the railing, for exhibition, and be protected from falling ofi'.
The inclined parts of the Mansard-cover, or roof, are provided each with two windows, (only those in front shown in the drawing,) and they are also hinged to the iiat part y, as shown at j, so that access can be had to the interior of the case.
The front and rear sides of the case are formed with a panel, k, as shown, and the front side is also provided, near the lower edge, with the usual faucets l, for the drawing of the sirups, and near the top edge with the usual faucets m, for the drawing of the soda and other waters.
At the top and bottom of the junction of the sides and ends of this case are riveted metal clasps n, for the purpose of binding the case more securely together.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design above described, and represented in the accompanying drawing, of' a soda and sirup-fountain, formed in the style oi' a Mansard cottage-house.
