DESIGN FOR A BUTT-LOAD FOR WHIPS.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No. 34,009, dated January 29, 1901.
Application filed December 27, 1900. Serial No. 41.239. Term of patent '7 years.
To aZl whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DAVID C. HULL, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of WVestfield, in the countyof Hampden and State ofMassachusetts,have invented and produced a certain new and useful Design for a Butt-Load for Whips, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to he had to the accompanying drawings, in which the load-piece of the new design is illustrated, and in which- Figure l is a perspective view of the buttload. 2 is a side view of the same. Figs. 3, at, and 5 are cross-sectional views taken, respectively, on the lines 3 3, 4 4, and 5 5, Fig. 1, said views being on a scale somewhat larger than that on which Fig. 1 is drawn.
As shown in the drawings, the leading characteristic of my design consists in the butt-load for a whip, which at its butt portion a is cross-sectionally of the form of an irregular octagon and which from said butt portion is tapered,wedge-like, upwardly gradually and uniformly until the upper end is cross-sectionally in the form of a thin rectangle, the butt end having imparted thereto the form of an inverted dome or hemispheroid, as indicated at d.
The plane surfaces 1 1 and 2 2 2 2, which constitute the sides of the cross-sectionally octagonal body, are merged into the perimetrical surface of the portion d in an encircling series of scallops ff.
Having now described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design of a butt load for a whip sub stantially as shown and described.
