DESIGN FOR A SAFETY-PIN.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,915, dated January 15, 1901. Application filed December 18, 1900. Serial No. 40,321. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADOLPH 'WEILER, a citizen of the United States,residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Safety-Pins, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accom panying drawings form apart, in which-- Figure 1 is a side View of my newly-designed safety-pin, and Fig. 2 an end view thereof looking in the direction of the arrow at of Fig. 1.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my newly-designed safetypin consists in a spirally-coiled end portion a, which connects the back 6 with the pin portion 0, and in the convoluted coil d at the end of the back 1), opposite the coil a, at the bottom of which is a forwardly and upwardly directed hook c, with which the pointed end of the pin portion a is adapted to engage, as shown atf, and adjacent to each end of the spirally-coiled portion a is a loop-shaped portion g, by means of which the back Z) and the pin portion 0 are connected with the coil (4, and the hook e is loop-shaped in form and is produced by bending the free end of the convoluted coil d forwardly and upwardly and then downwardly and hackwardly and then upwardly to the point h, where it terminates.
