DESIGN FOR A SHEET-METAL CAN OR VESSEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,912, dated January 15, 1901.
Application filed November 2e, 1899. Serial No. 738.230. Term of patent 14 years.
To f0 whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FRANK I. TowLn, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Paul, in the county of Ramsey, in the State of Minnesota, (whose posL-office address is at said St. Paul,) have invented and produced a new and original Design for Sheet-Metal Cans or Vessels for Holding Syrup and other Liquids, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
In said drawings, Figure 1 is a side elevation of ashe'etmetal can or vessel, showing mynew design. Fig. 2 is a plan View, and Fig. 3 is a front end elevation.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my new design consists in the general novel shape, configuration, and arrangement of the top, bottom, sides, and screw-top or pouring-nozzle of the can or vessel, by which the same is made to resemble in appearance a battle-ship or war vessel that is to say, it consists in a can or Vessel of general oblong shape having two convexlycurved sides A A and united together at their opposite extremities to form the pointed and inclined ends or edges 0 ct of the body of the vessel, said conveXly-curved sides being united to a flat bottom B, having con vex or boat-shaped edges Z) Z), and to a fiat top 0, having similar convex or boat-shaped edges 0 c, and the latter having a screw-top or pouringnozzle D projecting from its upper face, near one end thereof, giving the appearance of a smoke-stack or funnel having spiral corrugations or screw-threads around the same. The can or vessel is further provided with a curved handle F.
