To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS '1. FRACKER, of Boston, in the county of Sufl'olk, and State of Massachusetts, have invented or produced a new and original Design for Hinges; arid I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the said invention, reference being bad to the annexed drawing, making part of this specification, wherein- Figure 1 is an elevation of one leaf of a hinge, showing the design upon the face thereof, and
Figure 2 is a similar view, showing the design upon the back of the hinge.
My invention does not relate to the shape of the hinge, and it is not confined to any particular size of hinge, or to any character ot'joint for uniting the parts or leaves forming the hinge.
My invention or production consists in the design of an ornamentation upon the surface of the hinge.
The interior fiace or faces of the hinge are formed. with a recessed or countersunk ground-work, ac, having a surface in imitation of lace, or roughened.
The ornamental scroll-work b b is united by an oruament at c.
The character and shape of the ornamental scrollwork are shown in the drawing, fig. 1.
The ground-work d d of the ornamentation upon the back part of the hinge is to be the same as the groundwork a c, and the ornamental scroll-work e e is of the character represented in the drawing, fig. 2.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design of the ornamentation for the surface of hinges formed of the scroll-work, substantially as shown in the drawing.
