UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GORDON D. CANFIELD, OF WASHINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA, ASSIGNOR TO THE SPRUKS MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A BARREL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,510, dated November 6, 1900.
Application filed October 11, 1900, Serial No. 32,788. Term of patent '7 years.
0 aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, GORDON D. OANFIELD,a citizen of the United States, residing at \Vashington, in the county of Beaufort, in the State of North Carolina, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Barrels, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof, and in which the figure is a side elevation of a barrel, showing my new design.
As shown in the drawing, the leading or material feature of my design consists in the row of diamond-shape openings at the center of the barrel, extending transversely thereof and elongated in the direction of length of the barrel and lying between transverse rows of tapering openings which extend between the diamond-shape openings and the ends of the barrel and are also elongated in the direction of length of the barrel.
The diamond-shape openings A are spaced slightly apart and alternate with the tapered openings B and C, which lead to the head and bottom of the barrel. The openings B and C are shown as parallel with the openings A and in line with each other.
Hoops G extend transversely between the rows of openings A, B, and C. A bottom hoop D-is arranged at the base of the barrel and hoops E and F at the head thereof.
The openings B and C diverge or widen toward the ends of the barrel, starting practically from the hoops G, as shown.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a barrel,as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GORDON D. CANFIELD.
